January 2006 - Urban Life Center - Chicago

Erin Donigan, Ellie Miller, Tricia Ritcha, and Shingo Nonaka traveled to Chicago during interterm. The goal of this year’s January travel trip was to participate in an internship program in diverse communities. Internship placements for the four students included the Latino, GLBT, and Asian communities. All students lived in Hyde Park and shared an apartment with other ULC students. Highlights of the trip included: a blues bar, a photo shot with Jesse Jackson, a variety of lecture series to honor Martin Luther King, Jr., street tours of famous Chicago sites (Muhammad Ali’s house, the Sears Tower, the University of Chicago campus, the Pilsen district, Lake Shore Drive), and Chicago’s famous pizza!
