Communication | Lambda Pi Eta


lambda pi etaLambda Pi Eta is an honorary society that recognizes academic excellence in the field of communication. McPherson College chartered the Eta Chi Chapter of Lambda Pi Eta in 2007. 

Mission Statement: We strive to promote ethical communication in interpersonal, organizational and mass mediated communication. We dedicate ourselves to improving our own communication skills and to understanding the communication of others. We offer guidance and support for those students desiring to continue on for graduate education in the field of communication.


    1. Recognize, foster and reward outstanding scholastic achievement in communication studies. 
    2. Stimulate interest in the field of communication.
    3. Promote and encourage professional development among communication majors.
    4. Provide an opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas in the field of communication.
    5. Establish and maintain closer relationships between faculty and students.
    6. Explore options for graduate education in communication studies.

Membership Requirements: Students do not need to be communication majors to be inducted in Lambda Pi Eta, but they do need to meet the following requirements:

    1. 3.0 cumulative GPA with 60 semester hours completed.
    2. 3.25 GPA for communication studies courses with 12 semester credit hours completed in communication.  (See Application for list of communication courses.)
    3. $30.00 Lifetime Membership fee to be paid prior to induction.

Application: If you would like to apply for membership to Lambda Pi Eta, please download and complete this application, and return it to Dr. Becki Bowman. New members will be inducted at the end of each semester.
