Presidential Scholarship ($500 to $5,000)
- TWO participants will be awarded FULL TUITION
This award is for HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS ONLY. This award is reserved for those students who embody the mission of McPherson College: To develop whole persons through Scholarship, Participation and Service. Students should demonstrate a commitment to academic achievement, involvement in school, community and/or church as well as demonstrate service to others.
Qualifications:
The Presidential Scholarship competition recognizes top High School students for their academic performance. Students invited to attend this day will receive a Presidential Scholarship award based on their performance. The day will include a spontaneous essay writing competition, moderated round table discussion and personal interview. You and your guests will also have the opportunity to tour our campus, visit with faculty and current students, meet with your Admissions Counselor and attend a social mixer held in your honor.

Art Scholarship
STUDENTS MUST MAJOR IN ART (studio art, art education, graphic design or graphic design management) and complete the following steps.

STUDENTS MUST MAJOR IN COMMUNICATION.
Additional requirements:
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher OR ACT composite score of 22 or 1070 SAT (combining Critical Reading and Math score).
- Letter of reference from a high school teacher or guidance counselor.
- Select Applied Communication or Journalism emphasis
Marvin and Doreen Will History/History and Politics Scholarships
STUDENTS MUST MAJOR IN HISTORY and/or POLITICS.
These scholarships help provide students with wonderful opportunities for travel, educational advancement, and the chance to study history at McPherson College.
Additional requirements and applications:History Scholarship for Studying Abroad
This scholarship is intended to provide need based support for international study experiences which could include a traditional study abroad experience, internship or field experience related to History and/or Politics.

Natural Science Scholarship ($1,000)
Students must major in one of the Natural Sciences or related field, and participate in a departmental interview during the campus visit.

- cumulative GPA of 3.0 OR
- ACT composite score of 23 or 1070 SAT (combining Critical Reading & Math Score).- Letter of Reference from a high school science teacher or guidance counselor.
- Interview:
- Personal Interview should be scheduled through the Office of Admissions and may be completed as part of your campus visit.
Alumni/Church of the Brethren Scholarship ($3,000)
McPherson College is excited to offer the new Alumni/Church of the Brethren scholarship. $3000 will be awarded to any new student who is either a child of an alumnus or Church of the Brethren member.
Criteria:
- To qualify as a Church of the Brethren member, please submit a letter of recommendation from your local congregation
Minority Teacher Education Scholarship ($1,000)
Available to students who can demonstrate good academic performance and who exhibit dedication to the field of education. This scholarship may be awarded in addition to other McPherson College academic or co-curricular scholarships.
Additional requirements:
- McPherson College application for admission
- Official HS/College Transcript(s) and ACT/SAT scores
- Application card
- Two letters of recommendation from educators (such as a teacher, counselor, or administrator)
- A 300-word essay in answer to the question, “What are the qualities of a good educator? In what ways do those qualities apply to you” or “How have you shown that you have these qualities?”
Scholarship day by appointment.
This category recognizes a student’s achievement and participation outside of the classroom. Awards require audition or recommendation from coach/faculty. All McPherson College awards are limited based on academic information. IN ADDITION TO ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS, THESE AWARDS REQUIRE PARTICIPATION – AWARDS ARE RENEWABLE AT THE DISCRETION OF THE FACULTY OR COACH.
Service Scholarship ($4,000)
McPherson College students are engaged in service throughout each year. Beyond the mission of the college to “develop whole persons through scholarship, participation, and service” service becomes a part of students’ lives long after they leave McPherson. Scholarships of up to $4,000 are available to students who have demonstrated a commitment and dedication to service.

- Portfolio to include:
- Two letters of recommendation
- Personal Resume
- Outline of service experience
Athletic Awards: Requires coach recommendation. Students are encouraged to complete the Athletic Recruitment Form.
Journalism Awards: Audition and Portfolio Required.
Additional requirements:
- Submit a one-page introduction summarizing your journalism experience to date and your goals and motivation for continuing your involvement in student publications in college.
- A letter of nomination from a teacher or counselor.
- A portfolio to submit at the Journalism Scholarship Day.
Music Awards: Audition Required.
Additional requirements:
- A letter of recommendation from one or more high school or private music teachers. This letter should include comments that pertain to musical skills, ability to be successful as a musician at the collegiate level, overall character and academic performance in high school.
Theatre Awards: Audition Required.
Additional requirements:
- A letter of recommendation from one or more high school/college theatre instructors. The letter should include comments that pertain to the student’s theatre skills, the student’s ability to be successful within theatre at the college level, the student’s overall character, and the student’s academic performance.
- A written statement from the student as to why he or she is choosing theatre as a major or interest. The student should discuss personal and professional goals.
