Lions and Tigers and Bears, oh my! Penguins and 220 McPherson College alumni family members and friends, too! Those were some of the sights on Sunday, Sept. 30 at Wichita’s Sedgwick County Zoo. Adults and kids of all ages enjoyed the animal exhibits at the zoo on a beautiful fall day. Many gathered for refreshments and visiting at the college’s hospitality area at some point during the afternoon.

On Friday, September 14, McPherson College administration and staff members and area MC alumni cooked up and served 450 hot dogs to attendees of the Quinter vs. Rawlins County high school football game played in Quinter. This was the 4th annual bulldog barbeque hosted by McPherson College in the fall at a Quinter high school football game, in recognition of the over 100 McPherson College alumni and friends living in the Quinter area. It is also a way of saying thank you to Quinter residents for sending so many of their students to McPherson College. Area alumni assisting were Phil Stover, Keith Funk, Royce Roesch, Leon Neher and Lu Neher.

A cool Colorado night, cheering fans and 520 hot dogs, a complete recipe for a “fan”tastic time at the Rocky Ford versus Limon football game. Limon and Rocky Ford fans enjoyed hotdogs cooked and served by Limon School Superintendent, Scott Vratil, School Board President, Jason Bandy, and their spouses. The event was organized by MC alumnus and Limon High School principal, Don Bailey and wife, Janet, whose son, Brent, is currently a student at McPherson College. Other area students also attend McPherson College. College President Ron Hovis and wife, Robin, were in attendance along with Dean of Students, LaMonte Rothrock and wife, Brenda, Associate Director of Admissions and Financial Aid, Dave Barrett, and Director of Development, Anna Ruxlow.
