Internship Profile: Graphic Design
Axio Designs
Rylee Miller, a Graphic Design major from Rangely, CO had the opportunity to practice her design skills at Axio Designs in Colorado Springs. Rylee worked on a number of projects including a contemporary furniture web site, announcement banners, bank advertisements, book layouts and CD labels. Rylee reported that her skills improved greatly over the course of two and a half months. She gained the most from the internship by observing her design directors deal with clients, manage projects, observe them in design processes and when they engaged Rylee in creative brainstorming and critique sessions.
Rylee said, “Axio has given me long term goals to achieve for myself as a designer and as a person. My adventure with Axio has left a lasting impression on my life. It has geared me into a mindset knowing who I want to become and what it is going to take to get there.”
Internship Profile: Art
Rebecca Stover and Michaela Groeblacher collaborated with the
McPherson Healthcare Foundation to design a Legacy Society Garden, which will
ultimately enhance the environment at McPherson Memorial Hospital.
While creating an artistic rendering of two garden areas, the
students were exposed to the complexity and logistics of the developmental
process. They gained a true appreciation for the process required in creating
a garden as a living work of art.
The proposed “River of Life” garden will
be representative of the hospital and its focus to serve all ages. “Healing
Garden” will be a sensory garden with various sculptures depicting medicine
and healing symbols.
