Kenny Romero and Brian Hooks are McPherson College's top two returning scorers this basketball season.
Saturday night they picked up where they left off, combining for 47 points to lead the Bulldogs to an 87-76 victory over their game alumni.
Romero hit 11 of 14 shots and finished with 25 points, while the silky Hooks left-handed his way to 22 points, and also pulled down a game-high 8 rebounds.
The varsity led only 43-35 at the half and the old-timers managed to keep the margin under 10 most of the night.
Jamar Turner came off the bench to add 10 points for the Bulldogs.
The alumni received 11 points from David Broadfoot, who showed he could still bring rain with a trio of long 3-pointers. Eric Reichert added 10.
WOMEN ALUMNI 70, BULLDOGS 69 -- The alumni team on the floor Saturday probably could have beaten a lot of the current KCAC teams.
Led by Sharla Odhams' 20 points, the alumni rallied for a 70-69 victory. The varsity had led 34-29 at halftime.
In defense of the varsity, it played without expected leading scorer Erica Alvarez, who is still playing volleyball, as well as expected starting point guard Andi Wilder, out with an injury.
Christa Blose led the varsity with 17 points and Crystal Richardson added 15. Jaime Howell had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the alums.
