Bulldogs down Haskell

NORTH NEWTON -- McPherson College's Bulldogs came alive in the second half Saturday night, rallying from a 45-44 halftime deficit for a 97-81 victory over Haskell in the final night of the Bethel Classic.

Haskell stayed right with the Bulldogs for most of the first half before inching ahead just before the break. But the Bulldogs turned to Kenny Romero in the second half and he wound up with a game-high 30 points and 12 rebounds. He sliced through the defense to make 13 of 16 shots.

Roy McDonald had a hot first half and finished the game with 21 points. Cody Rierson supplied 17, along with 7 assists, and Brian Hooks chipped in with 13, while just missing a double-double as he pulled down 9 rebounds.

Corey Ladson led Haskell with 28 points.

The Bulldogs, now 2-1, figure to have a tough test Tuesday when they travel to Bartlesville to take on Oklahoma Wesleyan.
