Signings
The following is a list of all signings for the 2004-2005
season starting with the most recent signing.
Basketball adds Watson
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Thomas “Trey” Watson III
of Boyd, Texas, to a basketball letter of intent for the 2004-2005
academic year.
The 6'5”, 190-pound Watson
lettered three seasons in basketball and twice in baseball for Boyd
High School.
Following his senior season
when he averaged 16.2 points, eight rebounds, three blocks, and
2.2 steals per game, Watson was an All-Wise County and All-District
first team selection in basketball his senior season. He was then
selected to participate in the Junior Nationals played in Columbus
, Ohio , July 3 through 13.
Willing to take one for the
team, Watson drew 23 changing fouls during his final prep season.
“Trey brings a good sized
guard to our men's basketball program,” said McPherson head coach
Roger Trimmell. “He is a good three-point shooter and can
rebound. Trey will be a good fit in our fast break offense.”
“With Kenny (Romero) graduating,
we need to add some size and depth on the wing and along the front
line. Trey will help us out there. We are very pleased to have him
decide to join our program.”
Trey is the son of Becky
Watson of Boyd , Texas . He plans to major is history at McPherson
College with a career goal of teaching history and coaching basketball.

Kimble signs with Mac
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Zach Kimble of Mulvane ,
Kan. , to basketball and track & field letters of intent for
the 2004-2005 academic year.
The
6'5” Kimble played basketball for Mulvane High School under McPherson
native Ryan Herrs. This spring he anchored Mulvane's 4x800 meter
relay team to the 2004 Class 4A state championship and its 4x400
relay to the state runner-up spot.
The Mulvane 4 x 800 relay
posted the second fastest time among Kansas high school teams in
2004, combining to run 8:03.9 in winning the Chisholm Trail II championship.
“Zach is a very competitive
runner with both speed and strength,” said Dave Smith, McPherson
assistant track coach who is heading the Bulldogs' track & field
recruiting. “He has been part of Mulvane's 4 x 800 and 4 x 400 relays
at the state meet the past two years.”
“We look forward to having
Zach and the work ethic and winning attitude he'll bring as part
of our team for the next four years.”
Kimble was named honorable
mention Class 4A All-State as a senior and to the All-Chisholm Trail
League basketball team first team as a senior after being named
second team as a junior. As a senior he averaged 14 points, eight
rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. Twice he was named Mulvane High's
most valuable player.
“We are extremely pleased
to announce Zach's signing,” said Bulldog head basketball coach
Roger Trimmell. “At 6'5”, Zach brings a good inside-out game to
our program.”
“Zach participated in our
Central Kansas All-Star Game, and it was evident there that he is
a fierce competitor.”
“A special in Zach's signing
goes to his high school coach, Ryan Herrs. Being from McPherson
and having his brother Tim play here at McPherson College , Ryan
knows the community, in addition to our program and school.”
Zach was also named to the
All-CTL second team in football as both a junior and senior, and
honorable mention All-State as a junior. He recorded 1,000 receiving
yards during his junior and senior seasons.
Zach is the son of Bruce
and Eileen Kimble of Mulvane , Kan. He plans to major in accounting
at McPherson College .
Zach's sister Ashley was
an NJCAA cross country and track All-American at Butler County Community
College and has signed with Wichita State University for the 2004-05
school year.

Medford's Johnson inks
with Mac
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Kyle Johnson of Medford
, Okla. , to a basketball letter of intent for the 2004-2005 academic
year.

Joining

The 6'6”, 235-pound Johnson
averaged 14.7 points and 7.8 rebounds per game his senior season
at Medford High School , which was defeated in the state playoffs
by the future state runner-up.
Johnson has been selected
to play in the K101 Classic Bowl all-star basketball games in which
all-star teams from Oklahoma , Kansas , and Texas will play a round-robin
format.
Following his final interscholastic
season, he was named to the Enid News & Eagle All-Northwest
Oklahoma team, and the Cherokee Strip All-Star team. He was named
to the Blackwell Journal Tribune All-Northern Oklahoma squad in
both basketball and football.
Johnson won the three-point
shooting championship of the Cherokee Strip Tournament and was named
to the Cherokee Strip All-Tournament team.
At Medford High School ,
he was selected as team co-captain in both basketball and football.
“We are pleased to announce
the signing of Kyle Johnson,” said Bulldog head basketball coach
Roger Trimmell. “An assist should go to McPherson resident Danny
Glidewell, a Medford native, who alerted us to Kyle back in the
fall.”
“Kyle has good size at 6'5"and
a strong frame. He will provide an inside presence, but also
has a good touch from the perimeter. Kyle has a good
understanding of the game and will be a good addition to the Dogball
program.”
Kyle is the son of Steve
and Debbie Johnson of Medford , Okla. Kyle plans to major in biology/forest
management.

Sweet inks with the
Bulldogs
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Heath Sweet of Blue Rapids,
Kan. , and Valley Heights High School , to a basketball letter of
intent for the 2004-2005 academic year.

The 6'7”, 200-pound Sweet
set a Kansas high school record for blocked shots in a game when
he blocked 21 in January against Bern High School .
As a senior, Sweet earned
All-Twin Valley League first team honors after he averaged 13.1
points and 6.8 rebounds per game in addition to 5.1 blocks and 1.2
steals. He shot 49% from the floor and 74% from the charity stripe.
Sweet was also named to the
2004 KBCA honorable mention squad after being named to the All-Flint
Hhills honorable mention team his junior and senior seasons.
As a junior, Sweet averaged
14.1 points a game.
“With his size and the fact
he's so long, he has a lot of potential,” said McPherson College
head basketball coach Roger Trimmell. “Also, he has developed a
pretty nice 15-foot shot. I can see him creating some mismatch problems.”
“His potential is endless,”
added Valley Heights head coach Tim Klein, who was present for Sweet's
signing. “He's 6-7 and very athletic.”
Heath is the son of Janice
Rowe of Blue Rapids, Kan. , and Russell Sweet of Abilene , Kan.

Stewart signs with
Dogballers
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Tyler Stewart of Burlington
, Kan. , to a basketball letter of intent for the 2004-2005 academic
year.

The 5'11”, 175-pound Stewart
was a important part of Burlington High School 's 2004 Class 3A
state championship team, averaging 13 points, three assists, and
two rebounds. At Burlington High, Tyler was a three year letter
winner in basketball and also lettered four years in football.
Tyler was named to the 2004
All-State Class 3A first team by the Topeka Capital, Wichita Eagle,
and Kansas Basketball Coaches Association. Following the 2003 season,
he was a second team Class 4A selection by the same three selection
committees.
Stewart was a two-time, unanimous
first team All-Tri Valley League selection in basketball. Tyler
has been selected to play in Kansas Basketball Coaches Association
all-star basketball game. That game will be played in Topeka in
early August.
An all-around athlete, Stewart
was also an honorable mention All-Tri Valley pick in football as
a linebacker.
Following the end of his
senior season, Tyler participated in the 2004 Central Kansas All-Star
basketball game hosted by McPherson College , scoring 12 points
for the winning White team. He then participated in and was selected
the “Most Valuable Player” in the Flint Hills All-Star game.
“ Tyler directed traffic
for the undefeated, Class 3A state champion Burlington Wildcats,”
said Bulldog head basketball coach Roger Trimmell. “An All-State
guard, he is a pinpoint passer as well as a very good three-point
shooter.”
Tyler is the son of Doug
and Salli Stewart of Burlington , Kan. His father is the head coach
for Burlington High's girls basketball team.

Bremerman inks with the
Bulldogs
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Tim Bremerman of Tescott
, Kan. , to a basketball letter of intent for the 2004-2005 academic
year.

The 6'0”, 175-pound Bremerman
was named to the All-Eisenhower League squad and honorable mention
All-State Class 1A in basketball his senior season at Tescott High
School.
Bremerman averaged 18.8 points
and 8.6 rebounds per game his senior season at Tescott High.
A four-year letter winner
in basketball and three years in football and track, he was selected
to play in the Heart of America All-Star basketball game and this
summer will be participating in the Kansas 8-man All-Star football
game for graduating seniors.
He was an honorable mention
All-State defensive back and quarterback for the Trojans as they
won their district and were bi-district runners-up his senior season.
He was selected to the All-Eisenhower League first team in football
as both a defensive back and quarterback his senior year after being
named to the all-league second team as a junior.
“Tim comes to us after leading
Tescott High is virtually every category,” said McPherson College
head basketball coach Roger Trimmell. “He is a fine all around athlete
as shown by the fact he has been selected to play in the 8-man all-star
football game.”
“With Tim's ability to handle
the ball and shoot the outside shot, our plan is to use him as a
combo guard.
“We're pleased to have Tim,
another area student/athlete join us.”
Tim is the son of Rick
and Becky Bremerman of Tescott , Kan.

Cooper inks with the Bulldogs
McPherson College has announced the recent signing of Mark Cooper of Hoisington, Kan.., to a basketball letter of intent for the 2004-2005 academic year.

The 6’0”, 165-pound Cooper participated in the recent Central Kansas All-Star basketball game hosted by McPherson College.
Cooper was an unanimous All-Mid-State League and All-Area selection in basketball following his senior season when he averaged 15 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 4.0 steals per game for Hoisington High School. Cooper was also an honorable mention All-Mid-State selection in football. In 2003, Cooper also qualified for the Class 3A KSHSAA state golf tournament.
“My brother (Brandon Rice ‘98) played here for coach Trimmell so I feel like I know him pretty well,” said Cooper. “He (Trimmell) is a good coach and the guys on the team are good to play with. They work well together.”
“I know several of the guys, Jordan Carter, David Dunn, Mark Hallowell, Travis Allen. I’ve played with and against them, and I know Dan (Erb) that signed the other day.”
“I really like the small college atmosphere, and its personal attention. The new facilities are great.”
“We are pleased to announce the signing of Mark,” said McPherson College head basketball coach Roger Trimmell. “Mark was the leading scorer for the (Hoisington HS) Cardinals this past season. He is the step-brother of former Bulldog ‘gunner’, Brandon Rice, who is now coach at Kinsley, and still holds our single game record for three-point field goals in a game with eight.”
Mark is the son of Bruce and Jerree Cooper of Hoisington, Kan. He plans to major in secondary education at McPherson College with a career goal of teaching and coaching.
Mark’s father Bruce was named the Kansas Coaches Association “Golf Coach of the Year” in 1984 and the NFICA “Golf Coach of the Year” in 1986.

Erb signs with Mac
McPherson College has announced the recent signing of Daniel Erb of Timken, Kan., and Otis-Bison High School a basketball letter of intent for the 2004-2005 academic year.

Joining Daniel Erb in his letter of intent signing are his parents Don and Deb Erb, and (back) McPherson College head basketball coach Roger Trimmell.
The 6’3”, 190-pound Erb was participated in the recent Central Kansas All-Star basketball game hosted by McPherson College, scoring 18 points for the winning White team.
“I was interested in McPherson before the (all-star) game,” said Erb. “I’d been recruited by the football coaches, so I’ve been on campus several times. The campus is really nice, and I was impressed with the positive atmosphere here.”
“I’ve had a chance to come over and play (basketball) with some of the guys on the team. They pretty good, and are fun to play with.”
Erb averaged 17.6 points, seven rebounds, and one blocked shot per game his senior season at Otis-Bison. He was named to the All-Central Prairie League first team his senior season and honorable mention as a junior. He was named to the Class 1A All-State second team as a senior by both the Topeka Capital and Wichita Eagle and first team All-Area by the Hutchinson News and Great Bend Tribune. As a junior he was named honorable mention All-Area by the Great Bend Tribune and Hutchinson News.
Erb was also recruited by McPherson College for football where he was an All-Central Prairie League performer as a defensive and tight end. He also was named to the Great Bend Tribune’s All-Area first team and the Hutchinson News honorable mention 8-man squads.
“We are very pleased to sign Dan for our basketball program,” said Bulldog head basketball coach Roger Trimmell. “Dan had an outstanding career at Otis-Bison High School. He is a hard worker, who as a swingman can post up on the inside yet can knock down the three from the perimeter. He received numerous high school honors and really confirmed our earlier evaluation with his play in the Central Kansas All-Star Game.”
Daniel is the son of Don and Deb Erb of Timken, Kan.
