Mac women post first win

Close games seem to be the rule, not the exception, so far for the McPherson College women's basketball team.
After losing its opener by two points, Mac evened its record at 1-1 here Saturday afternoon with a 60-59 victory over Haskell Indian Nations.
Mac never felt comfortable in the game, only when the Indians missed a last-second shot to win the game.
"We still had way too many (27) turnovers," Mac coach Mel Wright said. "They were really packing it in on Erica (Alvarez) and we had to hit some outside shots."
Credit reserve Crystal Richardson for this win, as she supplied 19 points off the bench, including 4 of 8 from 3-point. She also had 7 rebounds.
"If not for Crystal, we'd probably lost this game," said Wright, whose team plays tonight at Central Christian College.
Alvarez scored 12 points and Sharla Odhams had 11, along with 7 rebounds, 5 steals and 4 assists in a good all-around game.
Melissa Mossett led Haskell with 17.
Game time tonight at Pyle Complex is 7:00.
