Mac women defeated

STERLING -- Newman University's women jumped out to a 40-30 halftime lead Friday and pulled away from McPherson College 76-61 in the Sterling Classic.

Because a team pulled out, the Bulldogs will not play another game today.

The loss was the third straight for the Bulldogs after they had opened the year 7-1. They are now off until Thursday when they return to KCAC action playing at Tabor. Mac is 2-2 in the KCAC.

Erica Alvarez and Crystal Richardson scored 18 points apiece for the Bulldogs and Brenna Schierling added 11. No other Bulldog, though, had more than 5 after that.

Kristy Hanson led Newman with 17 points.
