Brewer
named KCAC “Player of the Week”
McPherson College's Jamie
Brewer was named the KCAC basketball “Player of the Week” for her
play during the week of February 10 through February 16, 2008.
This was the second time this season the 5'6” junior guard from
McPherson, Kan., has won the KCAC award.
Brewer averaged 21.0 points 5.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists, and 4.0 steals
as the Lady Bulldogs swept two games, winning over Friends University
(79-62) on Thursday and at Ottawa University (70-64) Saturday, and
moved into a tie for third in the KCAC race.
Brewer
opened the week with 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 steals in 30 minutes
of play as McPherson turned back Friends for the second time this
season. Brewer put together a personal seven-point run, which she
opened with a driving lay-up, followed by a steal and lay-up, and
capped by a three-pointer, to break open the game five minutes into
the first half and the Bulldogs never trailed again.
On Saturday, Brewer took advantage of Ottawa's focus on the Bulldogs'
inside game to net a season high 24 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists,
and 3 steals in 36 minutes as McPherson completed off their regular
season sweep of the Lady Braves. Jamie scored six points of a 12-0
McPherson run that propelled the Bulldogs to an 11-point first half
lead. Then, early in the second half, Brewer's defense and personal
6-point run kicked off a 17-4 McPherson run after Ottawa had come
back to tie the game eight minutes into the second half.
Brewer's performances against Friends and Ottawa were her 19th and
20th double-digit scoring nights of the season.
Brewer entered the week leading the KCAC in assists, averaging 3.86
per game, and second in steals, 2.50 per game.
The two wins raised the Lady Bulldogs' overall record to 17-7, tying
for the second highest single season win total in school history,
and ties the 2002 team for the most wins in a season by the Lady
Bulldogs in the past 25 years.
Brewer was a 2005 graduate of McPherson High School and is majoring
in elementary education.

play during the week of January 27 through February 2, 2008.
The
Bulldogs' 5'6” junior guard from McPherson, Kan., averaged 18.5
points 2.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 2.0 steals as the Lady Bulldogs
swept two games, winning at Tabor College (54-50) and at home over
intra-county rival Bethany College (74-56).
Brewer opened the week with
14 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists, and 1 steal in almost 33 minutes
of play as McPherson broke a 14-game losing streak to the Bluejays,
dating back to the 2002 KCAC post-season tournament. Her three-pointer
with 1:59 left in the contest broke a 47-47 tie, and gave McPherson
its first lead since leading the opening five minutes of the game.
Jamie then followed her trey with a steal and break away pass for
an assist as McPherson finished off its game-turning, 13 to 1 run.
On Saturday, Brewer took
advantage of Bethany 's focus on inside defense to burn the Swedes
for 23 points, 4 assists, 3 steals, and 2 rebounds in 37 minutes
as McPherson completed off their regular season sweep of the Swedes.
Jamie scored six points of McPherson's 12-0 run that propelled the
Bulldogs' to their 12-point win. Brewer's 23 points were a season
high and her second highest, single game scoring performance as
a collegian.
Brewer's performances against
Tabor and Bethany were her 16th and 17th double-digit scoring nights
of the season, and Saturday marked the third time in the Lady Bulldogs'
last six games Brewer has led McPherson in scoring.
Brewer entered the week leading
the KCAC in both assists and steals per game, averaging 4.11 assists
and 2.50 steals.
The two wins raised the Lady
Bulldogs' overall record to 14-6, equaling last year's win total,
and moved their KCAC record to 7-5. The 14 wins ties for second
(2007 and 1990), to McPherson's 17 wins in 2002, as the most wins
in a season by the Lady Bulldogs in the past 25 years.
Brewer was a 2005 graduate

Pegram
named KCAC “Player of the Week”
McPherson College's Whitney
Pegram was named the KCAC basketball “Player of the Week” for her
play during the week of January 6-12, 2008.
The
Bulldogs' 6'4” senior center from Silver Lake, Kan., averaged 14.0
points, 8.7 rebounds, 5.7 blocks, 2.3 assists, and 0.7 steals as
the Lady Bulldogs swept three games, all on the road, from Central
Christian College of Kansas (80-68), the University of Saint Mary
(73-54), and Friends University (68-58). She finished the week hitting
19 of 36 (52.8%) of her field goal attempts.
Pegram opened the week with
8 points, 9 rebounds, 2 blocks, 1 assists, and 1 steal in limited
minutes, due to foul trouble, at cross-town rival Central Christian
on Monday.
She came back on Thursday
with 21 points, 14 rebounds, 2 assists, and a school, single game
record 8 blocked shots against USM, breaking her previous school
record of 7 blocked shots set November 26 against Oklahoma Wesleyan
University.
Those eight blocked shots
raised Pegram's season total to 46, breaking the previous McPherson
College single season record of 40 set first in 2000-2001 by Jessica
Bond and then tied by Bond in 2001-2002.
Pegram completed the Bulldogs'
three-game week with another 7 blocked shots along with 13 points,
3 rebounds, 4 assists, and a steal on Saturday at Friends University.
Pegram's 17-block week and
season total of 53 blocks moved her into the #1 spot on the NAIA
Division II individual rankings with an average of 4.08 blocks per
game.
She also ranks 4 th in Div. II with
an average of 7.54 defensive rebounds per game and 11th in total
rebounding with 9.39 per game.
A 2003 graduate of Silver
Lake High School, Pegram is majoring in psychology and sociology.

Fiorenzi
named KCAC “Player of the Week”
McPherson College 's Angelina
Fiorenzi was named the KCAC basketball “Player of the Week” for
her play during the week of January 1-5, 2008.
Fiorenzi,
junior forward from Bishop, Texas, scored 20 points and pulled down
six rebounds in the Lady Bulldogs' 84-71win over York College (Neb.)
Friday. Angelina, who hit 9 of 13 field goal attempts (69.2%) and
both of her free throw attempts, was also credited with two steals.
The Lady Bulldogs' win moved
their overall record to 7-3.
Angelina is a 2005 graduate
of Robstown ( Texas ) High School.
