The following is a list of signings for the 2008-2009 season
starting with the most recent signing.
Fuentes
signs with McPherson College
McPherson College women's
has announced the recent signing of Krissa Fuentes of Arvada, Colo.,
to basketball and track & field letters of intent for the 2008-2009
school year.
The 5'4” Fuentes lettered
two years in both basketball and track & field, and one year
in softball at Arvada High School .
“Krissa is a hard worker
and tough competitor,” said Shelly Prescott, McPherson College head
women's basketball coach. “We are happy to have her at McPherson
College and hope she really develops as a collegiate player.”
“Krissa has had to battle
inside throughout her high school career. She is a tough, competitive
kid! Her greatest strength right now is her defense.”
“She has really excelled
in the classroom. It is very important to me to have kids like her
on our team.”
Fuentes' junior year was
her first to compete in track & field, and she placed sixth
at the Colorado state regional meet. As a senior, Krissa placed
fourth in the discus and missed qualifying for the state championship
meet by one place.
Fuentes will be joining her
step-brother, Anthony Baldi, and step-sister, Alyssa Baldi, at McPherson
College in the fall when both Baldi's will be members of the Bulldog
soccer program.
Krissa is the daughter of
Veronica Fuentes of Arvada, Colo. She plans to major in graphic
design.

Florian
joins Lady Bulldogs
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Brandi Florian of Russell, Kan., to a basketball
letter of intent for the 2008-2009 school year.
A 5'9” Florian lettered two
years in basketball, two in softball, and four in cheerleading at
Russell High School.

Brandi
Florian was joined for her letter of intent signing by her mother
Paula Florian, and (back) McPherson College head coach Shelly Prescott.
This past season Brandi
was selected the Broncos' most valuable player. She averaged 6.5
points and eight rebounds per game while shooting 45% from the floor
for coach Daniel Rheingans.
“Brandi is enthusiastic about
coming to McPherson College and we are happy to have her here,”
said McPherson College women's head coach Shelly Prescott. “She
will provide us with a physical inside presence.”
“There is no doubt, when
you watch Brandi, that she loves the game.”
Brandi is the daughter of
Paula Florian of Russell , Kan. Brandi will be joining her sister
Natasha at McPherson College , where Natasha has been a member of
the softball and cheer/dance teams. Their older brother Nathaniel
formerly played football at Kansas Wesleyan.

Sloan
signs with Lady Bulldogs
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Brooke Sloan of Buffalo, Kan., and Buffalo-Altoona-Midway
High School to a basketball letter of intent for the 2008-2009 school
year.

Brooke
Sloan is joined for her signing by (front) her parents Tammy and
Harlan Sloan, and (back) McPherson College head coach Shelly Prescott
and Altoona-Midway head coach Jim Papen.
A 5'7” guard, Sloan was
a four-time All-Three Rivers League selection for coach Jim Papen.
Brooke completed her prep basketball career with 1,136 points. She
was named the Jets' captain and Most Valuable Player.
Sloan has been a four-year
letter winner in volleyball and softball as well as basketball at
Altoona-Midway.
“Brooke's biggest asset,
thus far, has been her versatility,” said McPherson College women's
head coach Shelly Prescott. “She can shoot the ball, defend the
post, and handle the ball well. Brooke scored over 1,000 career
points, which is a phenomenal accomplishment!”
Brooke is the daughter of
Harlan and Tammy Sloan. She is the cousin of Ashley and Chad Kline,
both of which played for the Bulldogs of McPherson College.

Otero
trio signs with Lady Bulldogs
McPherson College has announced
the recent signings of Valma Cook, Michelle Ducy, and Stephanie
Poland of Otero Junior College , to basketball letters of intent
for the 2008-2009 school year.
All three played major roles
for the Lady Rattlers of LaJunta , Colo. , as they went 23-9 in
2008, after going 19-11 as freshmen, for coach Taylor Wagner.

A joint
signing will bring three members of Otero's 23-9 2008 Lady Rattler
team to McPherson College next fall. Joing the Lady Bulldogs
will be (front, left) Valma Cook, Michelle Ducy, and Stephanie Poland.
They were joined for their letter of intent signing by (back, left)
Taylor Wagoner, Otero College head coach, and McPherson College
basketball coach Shelly Prescott.
“All three of these girls
are going to make a great impact on our basketball team and the
McPherson College community!” offered McPherson College head coach
Shelly Prescott.
“I was amazed with the intensity
and competitiveness these girls brought to the floor when they scrimmaged
with the team during their visit to campus.”
“Our girls are very excited
to have them here, which is very important to me! Talent is
not as effective without team chemistry. The experience and
competitive spirit these three will bring to the court are exactly
what we were looking for!”
Valma Cook,
5'7", was a first team All-State selection and Class 2A State
Most Valuable Player for North Sevier High School in Salina, Utah.
The Region MVP her junior
and senior seasons for Coach Lexa Larson, Cook was Sevier High's
MVP for three years.
“Valma will play some point
guard for us. She sees the floor real well and is a great
passer! Valma is a point guard with both the ability to score
and to make great decisions when the ball is in her hands.
Valma is the daughter of
Glenn Cook of Aurora, Utah. She plans to major in secondary education/history
at McPherson College .
Michelle Ducy
was captain of the 2008 Otero Lady Rattlers.
The 5'6” Ducy was a first
team All-SCL and All-Defensive player for Pueblo South High School
in Pueblo, Colo. She was captain and MVP for the Colts of Pueblo
South of Coach Jim Harrison her senior season.
“Michelle is a very, very
quick, athletic guard! I would also not be one bit surprised
if she is one of our leading rebounders next year.”
Michelle is the daughter
of Kathleen Greer of Pueblo, Colo. She plans to major in biology/pre-physical
therapy.
The 5'11” Poland
has continued her development as a basketball player the
past two seasons at Otero.
An academic All-American
for the Lady Rattlers, Poland was an academic All-American and named
Most Improved during her prep career at Arvada West High School
in Arvada, Colo., for coaches Gary Anderson and Greg Hahn.
“Stephanie Poland will be
a positive addition to our inside game! When she played with
the team during her visit to campus, I was impressed with her footwork
and smart defensive play.”
Poland is the daughter of
Debbie Poland of Arvada, Colo. She plans to major in biology.

Weisenburger
signs with McPherson
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Brooke Weisenburger of Spring Hill, Kan.,
and Gardner-Edgerton High School to basketball and soccer letters
of intent for the 2008-2009 school year.
The 5'6” Weisenburger lettered
three years in both sports for the Trailblazers.

Joining
Brooke Weisenburger for her letter of intent signing were (front,

“I am extremely excited
about having Brooke join our team!,” said head McPherson College
women's basketball coach Shelly Prescott. “She is first and foremost
a great young lady!”
“Brooke is very athletic
and will probably play a 3-guard for us. She is going to provide
us with good defense and good shooting range. She is a smart player
and a hard worker! Brooke will be able to contribute to both women's
basketball and the women's soccer team as she is also an outstanding
goalie.”
“It is also neat, and exciting,
that my first signee played her high school basketball for Coach
(Scott) Schaefer, who was my high school coach.”
Brooke was a first team
All-Frontier League selection in soccer following her senior season.
"I feel more comfortable
now, knowing I have signed another quality goalkeeper in Brooke,”
said McPherson College soccer coach Robert Talley. “We played all
last season with just one goalkeeper and we played with the risk
of injury every game."
"I was impressed with
Brooke when she came to campus. She was eager to learn what she
could do to better herself as a goalkeeper."
"Brooke will be battling
for the starting spot.”
Brooke is the daughter of
Bradley and Joleen Weisenburger of Spring Hill, Kan. She plans
to major in elementary education.
