named NAIA national special teams Player of the Week
McPherson College senior
Stephen Harrison has been named the NAIA National Special Teams
“Player of the Week” for his play in the Bulldogs' 52-38 win over
Kansas Wesleyan University on October 17, 2009.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The seventh installment of the 2009 NAIA National
Football Players of the Week were announced today (Oct. 19): Brady
Croucher of MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) was named NAIA Defensive
Player of the Week, Stephen Harrison of McPherson (Kan.) was named
NAIA Special Teams Player of the Week and Kasey Peters of Rocky
Mountain (Mont.) was named NAIA Offensive Player of the Week for
the week of Oct. 12-18. These winners were chosen out of a pool
of player of the week performers among 10 conferences and independents.

Harrison, a 6-1, 180 lbs., senior wide receiver from Columbus, Miss.,
compiled 244 all-purpose yards during a 52-38 win over Kansas Wesleyan.
He took the second half opening kick-off 80 yards to the end zone
and handed the Bulldogs a 49-Stephen Harrison14 advantage. On two
kick-off returns, he averaged 73.5 yards and averaged 18.5 yards
on two punt returns. In the country, Harrison is second in kick-off
return average (35.5 ypg) and fifth in all-purpose yards per game
(177.0 ypg).

Paulson
named KCAC Defensive “Player of the Week.”
Wichita,
Kan. – Senior linebacker Jeff Paulson was selected as the KCAC defensive
“Player of the Week” for his play in week No. four (Sept. 28- Oct.
4).
In week four, McPherson improved their record to 3-1 (2-1 KCAC)
with a 21-0 blanking of Sterling College. The victory against Sterling
is the first shutout win for the Bulldogs since 1997 (Tabor College
21-0) and the first shutout of Sterling in 20 years (1989, 12-0).
In the game, Paulson recorded seven tackles, including four solo
tackles and an interception late in the fourth quarter to keep the
Warriors off the scoreboard.
Paulson currently leads the Bulldogs with 36 tackles, averaging
nine tackles per game. The 6-0, 210-pound linebacker was a preseason
Super 72 selection by College Fanz Network's NAIA Football Preview
magazine. The “Player of the Week” selection is the third time he
has been selected for this conference honor.
With the victory, McPherson jumped two spots in the weekly NAIA
Football Top 25 Coaches' Poll to No. 18.
Paulson is a graduate of Limon High School in Limon, Colo. He is
majoring in business management at McPherson College.
The Bulldogs return to KCAC action this weekend when they travel
to the University of Saint Mary. Kickoff is set for 1:30.

Eason
named KCAC Special Teams "Player of the Week
McPherson
College junior kicker/punter Travis Eason was named KCAC Special
Teams “Player of the Week” for his performance in the Bulldogs 60-38
win over #9 Friends University on September 12, 2009.
Eason (5-11, 170 pounds)
had four punts for 160 yards, including a long of 53 yards, plus
10 kickoffs for 591 yards. He also connected on six of seven PAT
attempts.
Eason graduated from East
Central High School in Tulsa, Okla., in 2007. Travis is majoring
in biochemistry at McPherson College.
Saturday's win improved
the Bulldogs' record to 2-0 on the season, 1-0 in the KCAC
|
