Glenn Anderson earned NAIA All-American recognition, All-District 10, and All-KCAC honors as a defensive end for the Bulldogs in 1973 and 1974. Following his senior season, Anderson was a unanimous All-District 10 selection after leading the Bulldogs with 219 defensive points including 69 unassisted and 36 assisted tackles, five passes broken up, and seven fumble recoveries. He was later signed to a free agent contract with the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League after receiving overtures from the Packers, Lions, Patriots, Falcons, and Browns.
A four-year letter winner in both football and basketball at McPherson College, Anderson led the Bulldog basketball team in scoring and rebounding in 1974. He still holds the Bulldog single game rebounding record with 37 caroms against Tabor during the 1973-74 season.
In the spring of 1975, Anderson was named McPherson College’s “Male Athlete of the Year” and received his B.A. in physical education.
Anderson currently resides in Raytown, Mo., where he works as a department supervisor for the Department of Homeland Security.
Jan Foley Monahan participated in tennis, basketball, track & field, volleyball, and softball during her time at McPherson College, earning 20 varsity letters. She twice won the KAIAW #2 singles title (1972 and 1974) as well as the 1974 ACCK #1 doubles title when she teamed with 2001 McPherson College HOF inductee Laura Sundahl Smysor. Jan posted a 35-12 record in four years of singles play plus was part of doubles teams which were 31-9.
Monahan was the ACCK high jump champion in 1975 after being runner-up in the high jump as a freshman and then placing in four events (high jump, shot put, discus, and 440-dash) at the ACCK track and field championships her junior season.
Jan helped lead the Bulldog basketball program to a 41-23 record during her four years at McPherson. She averaged a career high 9.8 points per game as a junior.
Following her graduation from McPherson College with a B.A. in biology, Jan went on to earn a B.S. in petroleum engineering from Colorado School of Mines in 1982.
Monahan currently resides in Denver, Colo., where she works as a reservoir engineer for McElvain Oil & Gas.
Dr. Mark Melhorn was an All-KCAC honoree in both football and tennis.
As a senior, he was the 1975 KCAC tennis champion at #3 singles and combined with 2006 Hall of Fame inductee Steve Burkholder to win the KCAC #1 doubles titles with a perfect 15-0 conference record. In 1974, the same duo placed second in the KCAC tournament after winning the ACCK title, which was Melhorn’s second ACCK doubles title. During his four-year collegiate career, Melhorn was All-KCAC and All-ACCK each year, and won 83% of his collegiate matches his final two seasons. Was 25-5 in singles play his final two seasons with only two conference losses.
In 1974, Melhorn was named to the All-KCAC football first team as a linebacker. He was credited with 53 unassisted tackles, 27 assists, and three recovered fumbles.
After earning his B.S. in chemistry from McPherson College, Melhorn received his M.D. from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and did advanced study in orthopaedic surgery at the UMKC-Wichita. He studied as a Boyes Fellow at the University of Southern California. Melhorn has served as clinical assistant professor in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita.
A 1997 recipient of the McPherson College Young Alumni award, Melhorn currently resides in Wichita, Kan., where he is an occupational orthopaedic physician specializing in the hands and upper extremities with The Hand Center in Wichita.
