John White was all right for the McPherson College men's soccer team here Wednesday night.
White scored the first hat trick for the Bulldogs since their return to the pitch, as they scored their first conference victory and second of the year.
And it came against intra-county rival Bethany College, as the Bulldogs won 4-2.
"John White played the way we expect him to play every night," McPherson coach Doug Quint said.
Quint noted the Bulldogs used a new strategy for this game in an effort to shake things up and obviously the players took to it.
"Defensively, we changed our system up after Saturday's loss and have had only one day to work with it. Even though most of our players have never played defensively like this before, they performed very well," Quint said. "Offensively, we were clicking and scored some pretty goals. Our flanks players really came to play and provided us with a lot of creativity."
White scored the first goal off a pass from Matt Herber. White made it 2-0, with the assist this time to Austin Bray.
The lead ballooned to 3-0 when Brian Trussell sent a cross to Matt Herber, who scored on a header. The final goal was by White, who tallied off a Jon Rothrock assist.
Bethany's first score came from Brian Yates, and its final score came with under a minute to play by Josh Ehret.
The Bulldogs had a 13-6 edge in shots.
Mac, now 2-9 overall, goes on the road Saturday to play Sterling.
