Mac kickers sweep Sterling College

The wait is over for the McPherson College women's soccer team.
The Bulldogs finally recorded their first win since re-starting their program this fall. Saturday night, the Bulldogs defeated Sterling College 2-0 at McPherson Stadium.
Mandy Harvey, off a pass from Tawni Camarillo, scored the first goal and in the second half, Becky Amiot delivered a 25-yard frozen rope for insurance.
"These ladies have come such a long way this season," Mac coach Doug Quint said. "Each day they work so hard to improve and I'm so happy to see them get a win. I must say, it was a job well done."
Quint said his team created many scoring opportunities and took the game to the Warriors.
The team plays Wednesday at Bethel.
Mac men 2, Sterling 0 -- It was a clean sweep for the Bulldogs, as John White assisted on two goals, the first by Tyler Lawrence and the second by Steve Yount. In addition, the Bulldogs were able to shut down Jeff Kidd, last year's KCAC Offensive Player of the Year.
"We witnessed some great soccer tonight," Quint said. "The guys really stepped up to the plate and played well on both sides of the ball. We created so many great opportunities at goal and our defense was a wall. This was a much-needed win for us. It keeps us in the eace for a playoff spot and this is the goal we have right now."
Quint, whose team has won three of its last four to move to 4-10, coaches against his alma mater Wednesday when the Bulldogs play at Bethel.
