NAIA & KCAC Honors
McDaniel
named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete
Nathan McDaniel, senior from
Ponca City, Okla., was recently named NAIA/Daktronics soccer Scholar-Athletes
for the 2006 season.
McDaniel
has been a two-year starter for the Bulldogs after transferring
to McPherson from Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa. A 2003 graduate
for Ponca City , Okla. , High School, Nathan is majoring in mathematics.
McDaniel was named to the All-KCAC first team following his junior
season, and to the All-KCAC second team in 2006. He was a member
of the academic All-KCAC team as a junior. A junior, McDaniel tallied
one goal and three assists from his defender position.
“I'm very pleased to see
Nathan recognized for all his hard work he has put into his academics,”
said Quint. ”Achieving NAIA Academic All-American is not an easy
task. He has always been a very dedicated worker in both the classroom
and on the field.”
Recipients of the Daktronics-NAIA
Scholar-Athlete award must have a minimum grade point average of
3.50 on a 4.00 scale, be a junior or above in academic standings,
and been in attendance at the nominating institution a minimum of
one full school year.

Rodriguez
receives All-Region IV and All-American honors
McPherson College freshman Armando
Rodriguez has been named to the 2006 NAIA All-Region IV men's soccer
first team and NAIA All-American honorable mention squad.
The All-American honors are
a first for the McPherson College men's soccer program.
A
2006 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, Texas, Rodriguez
was earlier named KCAC “Freshman Player of the Year” as well as
to the All-KCAC first team as a forward.
This season, Armando has
been credited with 21 goals and 6 assists in 16 games.
Rodriguez was named the
KCAC “Player of the Week” for October 1-7 when he scored six goals
as McPherson men defeated Bethel College, 2-0, Ottawa University
6-1, and Tabor College, 5-0. A week earlier, Rodriguez and
teammate John White set and equaled a school record as each scored
five goals in the Bulldogs' 17-1 win over Bethany.
“Armando had a great year
for us here at McPherson College,” said McPherson College head coach
Doug Quint. “For a freshman to walk in and lead his team in scoring
and produce like he did, says a lot about the talent he possesses.
I can't imagine the numbers he would of put up for us had he not
missed the first three games of the season.”

Rodriguez
named first team All-KCAC soccer picks
McPherson College freshman
Armando Rodriguez has been named to the 2006 All-KCAC (Kansas Collegiate
Athletic Conference) soccer first teams in a vote by the conference's
coaches.
Rodriguez was also selected
by the coaches as the KCAC Men's “Freshman of the Year”.
John White, Tyler Lawrence,
and Nathan McDaniel were named to the men's All-KCAC second team.
“I was very pleased with
the number of honors received by our young men,” said Doug Quint,
McPherson College head soccer coach. “Each was very deserving. I
felt with the seasons we had, we should have had not just more players
recognized, but players ranked higher.”
Armando

“Armando has had a wonderful
year for us,” offered McPherson head coach Doug Quint.” “He stepped
in and performed at a high level right away. It takes a really special
player to perform the way he did as a freshman. I can only smile
when I think of the things he can accomplish over the next three
years. He is a pure finisher and a very dangerous attacking player.”
The son of Luis and Maria
Rodriguez of Dallas, Texas, Rodriguez is majoring in music.
Tyler
Lawrence, a 2003 graduate of Hutchinson High School in
Hutchinson, Kan., was named to the All-KCAC second team as a defender
this year after being named as a midfielder to the first team a
year ago and to the second team as a sophomore.
“Tyler had a great season this year!”
said Quint. “Technically, Tyler is one of the best players to come
through this program.”
“He followed me from Hutchinson
with the goal of making McPherson College soccer something special.
Tyler has been our leader for four years and will graduate having
accomplished a lot. He had a great senior season and was willing
to make the sacrifice of changing positions for the betterment of
the team.”
Tyler is the son of Bruce and Julie
Lawrence of Hutchinson, Kan. He is a senior business major.
Nathan
McDaniel , a 2003 graduate of Ponca City (Okla.) High School,
was named as a defender to the All-KCAC second team after being
named first team a year ago.
“Nate really solidified
our back-line for the last two years,” offered Quint. “We built
our defensive foundation around him. For the last two years we had
one the best defenses in the conference and it all starts with Nate.
He is one of the best aerial players I have every coached; a great
tackler of the ball and just one tough player to beat.”
“Nate had a great year
this year; it's just too bad that his season was cut short when
he torn his ACL. I really feel for him!
“Nate has put in a great two years
in here at McPherson College. We will definitely miss him!”
A transfer from Northern
Oklahoma College in Tonkawa, Nathan is the son of Jim and Kerry
McDaniel of Ponca City, Okla. McDaniel is a senior mathematics major
at McPherson College.
John
White, a 2003 graduate of Southeast High School in Wichita,
Kan., was named an All-KCAC second forward. White scored 14 goals
and added 10 assists in 18 games this season. White was named KCAC
“Player of the Week” for September 24-30 when he scored seven goals
and dished off two assists as McPherson defeated Bethany College,
17-1, and the University
of Saint Mary, 6-0. His five goals against Bethany set a new McPherson
school record for goals in the single match.
“John has accomplished
so much over the last four years,” said Quint. “He came in here
as a freshman and provided us with a solid foundation for the future.
He graduates as the all-time leading scorer in McPherson College
history and has been part of two of the most successful teams in
school history. That is quite a resume.”
“We will definitely miss
him and his offensively ability next year.”
John will graduate next spring as
the McPherson College career scoring leader with 31 goals and 11
assists. A senior business administration major, John is the son
of Danny and Brenda White of Wichita, Kan.
The 2005 Bulldogs finished
their regular season with a 7-2-0 KCAC record, good for third place
in the conference race and a home berth in the first round of the
KCAC post-season tournament. The third place finish ties the highest
known conference finish in school soccer history. Their overall
regular season record of 11-5-1 set a new school record for wins
in a season breaking the previous record of 10 set in 2005 when
the Bulldogs finished 10-8-4 and qualified for NAIA regional play
for the first time in school history.
