Rodriguez
receives All-American soccer honors
Armando Rodriguez, for the
second straight year has received honorable mention NAIA All-American
recognition.
The
2006 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, Texas, was
previously named to the All-Region IV and All-KCAC first teams.
Armando Rodriguez'selection
to the All-Region first team was his second after receiving the
same designation in his initial collegiate season. Earlier this
fall, Rodriguez, a 2006 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in
Dallas , Texas , was also named to the All-KCAC first team for a
second time.
Rodriguez was named the NAIA
National Player of the Week when he broke the McPherson career scoring
record with back-to-back three-goal matches in wins over Tabor (Kan.)
and Ottawa (Kan.), which was after a three-point effort against
Manhattan Christian (Kan.). For the week, he went for seven goals,
two assists and 16 points.
This season he has 16 goals
and five assists in 16 games, totaling 37 points, as a pulled muscle
in the final regular season match prematurely ended his 2008 season.
He eneded the season second in the KCAC regular season in both goals
and scoring. In conference play only, he tied for seasonal lead
with 11 goals and was second with 25 points.
Last year Armando scored
a school record 21 goals and 6 assists for a school single season
record 48 points. Rodriguez was named the KCAC “Player of the Week”
for October 1-7 when he scored six goals as McPherson men defeated
Bethel College , 2-0, Ottawa University 6-1, and Tabor College ,
5-0. A week earlier, Rodriguez and teammate John White set and equaled
a school record as each scored five goals in the Bulldogs' 17-1
win over Bethany . He was the KCAC “Freshman of the Year”, first
team All-KCAC and All-Region IV, and received honorable mention
NAIA All-American recognition.

Box
named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete
Nicholas Box, senior from
Linwood , Kan. , and a 2004 graduate of Basehor-Linwood High School
was recently named NAIA/Daktronics soccer Scholar-Athlete for the
2007 season.
Box
has been a two-year starter as a defender for the Bulldogs after
transferring to McPherson College from
The senior scored five goals
on eight shots on goal this past season while helping anchor the
Bulldogs' back line.
Box is majoring in business
and was previously named to the academic All-KCAC team as a junior.
Recipients of the Daktronics-NAIA
Scholar-Athlete award must have a minimum grade point average of
3.50 on a 4.00 scale, be a junior or above in academic standings,
and been in attendance at the nominating institution a minimum of
one full school year.

Bulldogs

Davis were named to the second team. Senior Paul Burke was named
to the All-Region honorable mention squad.

Deno
Bell was previously named to the All-KCAC men's first team mid-fielder.
He concluded his final collegiate season with four goals and five
assists for 13 points in 20 matches, just missing the KCAC's top
ten scoring list. Bell converted 19 of his 38 shots on goal
Mike
Davis received second team men's honors as goalkeeper. Earlier,
Davis, a 2004 graduate of Putnam City West High School , was named
the All-KCAC's second team goalkeeper.
Davis finished the regular
season with a 10-6-3 record, and was credited with 109 saves, four
shut-out wins, and a 1.536 goal against average. He finished the
season having been in goal for all but five minutes of the Bulldogs'
2007 season.
Paul
Burke was named to the All-KCAC first team as a defender. He was
credited with one assist on the season. Burke transferred to McPherson
from Allen County Community College in 2006.

Rodriguez
leads All-KCAC picks
McPherson
College sophomore Armando Rodriguez was named the 2007 KCAC (Kansas
Collegiate Athletic Conference) Men's Soccer “Offensive Player of
the Year” in a recent vote of the conference's coaches.
A total of
three Bulldog men were named to the All-KCAC first team. Seniors
Paul Burke and Trenton “Deno” Bell were named first team defender
and mid-fielder, respectively, while Armando Rodriguez was named
as a forward.
Mike Davis,
senior, received second team men's honors as goalkeeper.
“I was very pleased with
the number of honors received by our young men,” said Doug Quint,
McPherson College head soccer coach. “Each was very deserving.”

Rodriguez of Dallas, Texas, Rodriguez is majoring in music.
Paul
Burke, a 2004 graduate of Derby (Kan.) High School was
named to the All-KCAC first team as a defender.
Burke was credited with one
regular season assist. Burke transferred to McPherson from Allen
County Community College in 2006.
Paul is the son of Byron
and Maryls Burke of Derby, Kan. He is a senior secondary education/art
major.
Trenton “Deno” Bell,
a 2004 graduate of Westmoore High School in Oklahoma City, Okla.,
was named as a to
the All-KCAC first team as a mid-fielder.
This season Bell had three
goals and five assists for 11 points in 19 regular season matches,
just missing the KCAC's top ten list.
Trenton is the son of Morris
and Linda of Oklahoma City, Okla. Bell is a senior physical education
major at McPherson College .
Michael
Davis, a 2004 graduate of Putnam City (Okla.) West High
School in Oklahoma City, Okla., was named the All-KCAC second goalkeeper.
Davis finished the regular
season with an 10-4-2 record, and was credited with 90 saves and
four shut-out wins.
A senior automotive restoration
major, Mike is the son of Pam Davis of Piedmont, Okla.
The 2007 Bulldogs finished
their regular season with a 4-3-2 KCAC record, good for fifth place
in the conference race. The Bulldogs then won two overtime matches
in the KCAC post-season tournament before falling, again in overtime,
in the conference tournament title match. Their overall regular
season record of 11-5-3 ties the school record for wins in a season
set in 2006. McPherson has qualified for NAIA regional play for
the third year in a row.
