The following is a list of all signings for the 2007 season
starting with the most recent signing.
Mbamala
signs with McPherson soccer
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of McBruno Mbamala of Grand Prairie, Texas, to
a soccer letter of intent for the 2007-2008 school year.

McBruno
Mbamala is joined for his letter of intent signing by (left) John
White, McPherson College all-time career scoring leader, and Doug
Quint, McPherson College head soccer coach.
The 5'11”, 170-pound Mbamala
was a three-year letter winner in soccer for coach Mario Armijo
at South Grand Prairie High School. He was selected as the District
7-5A utility player of the year and named the South Grand Prairie
defensive most valuable player. Bruno scored 37 goals in four years
of interscholastic play and posted 11 defensive shut-outs as a senior.
Outside the interscholastic
season, Bruno played club soccer for Fort Worth FC 90 under coach
Allan Adams.
Mbamala also lettered twice
in cross-country for South Grand Prairie HS.
“Bruno is a huge signing
for us,” said McPherson College head soccer coach, Doug Quint. “He
will make an immediate impact on the field, and give us another
very dangerous attacking player up top.”
“Bruno is strong on the ball
technically, and has the speed to break away from opposing backs.”
“He is a very dedicated young
man, one who works very hard at everything he does, taking nothing
for granted.”
“I can't wait to wait his
progress as a player over the next four years.”
McBruno is the son of Agatha
Mbamala of Grand Prairie, Texas. He plans to major in biochemistry
at McPherson College with a goal of attending medical school.

Pello
signs with McPherson soccer
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Andrew (A.J.) Pello of Benton, Kan., to a
soccer letter of intent for the 2007-2008 school year.

A.J.
Pello is joined for his letter of intent signing by (front) his
parents, Kathy and Herb Pello along with (back, left) McPherson
College head coach Doug Quint, Jorge Rameriz (Circle HS assistant
coach), Chris Todd (former head coach at Circle HS), and Wyatt Bobo
(Circle HS head coach).
The 6'1”, 166-pound Pello
was a four-time All-Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League goal keeper
for Circle High School and coach Wyatt Bobo.
“A.J. is a very hard working
young man who I believe is really going to excel here at McPherson
College,” said McPherson College head soccer coach, Doug Quint.
“He's an exceptional athlete that possesses a lot of quickness and
agility.”
“During his high school season,
A.J. received a lot of practice in goal. He was constantly asked
to keep his team in the game.”
“It will be an adjustment
for him (to play at the collegiate level), but I think he is up
for it! A.J. will give us some much needed depth at our goal keeping
position.”
“I look forward to seeing
his overall improvement during his four years at McPherson College.”
A.J. is the son of Herb
and Kathy Pello of Benton, Kan. He plans to major in biochemistry/pre-medicine.

Strong
signs with McPherson soccer
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Calin Strong of Manhattan, Kan., to a soccer
letter of intent for the 2007-2008 school year.

Calin
Strong is joined for his letter of intent signing by McPherson College
head soccer coach Doug Quint.
Calin, 5'8” and 175 pounds,
was a four-year letter winner for coach Frank Alonso at Manhattan
High School. Strong was a first team All-State and All-Region selection
following his senior season. He
was a member of the 88-Kansas Olympic Development State Team for
two years.
“I'm extremely please to
add Calin to our McPherson College family,” said McPherson College
head soccer coach, Doug Quint. “Calin is one of the top players
in the state of Kansas and I am excited to have him at McPherson
College!”
“It's nice to get another
club player of mine to commit to McPherson College . I began coaching
Calin during the summer months while training Manhattan High School
during their preseason. For the last two years, Calin has been part
of my 89 River City Warrior club team.”
“Calin is a great addition
to our squad. He has a chance to step in here and made an impact
right away. We needed to add a quality back with the offensive skills
that Calin has. He will improve our back line, both defensively
and offensively.”
“Calin is a winner both on
and off the field. The passion he has for the game is what makes
him a great player to coach.”
Calin is the son of Michelle
Strong of Manhattan, Kan.

Cummins
signs with McPherson soccer
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Ben Cummins of Buhler, Kan., to a soccer letter
of intent for the 2007-2008 school year.
The 5'9” and 155-pounds Cummins
was a four-sport letter winner at Buhler High School , lettering
in soccer (4 years), football (1), basketball (1), and track (3).
Cummins was named to the
All-Ark Valley Chisholm Trail first team, All-Region, and All-Area
teams his senior season as well as second team All-State for coach
Tim Harris.
“Ben is the third former
Club Azzurri player of mine to commit to McPherson College ,” said
McPherson College head soccer coach, Doug Quint. “I can't tell you
how good that feels.”
“Ben is a great defensive
player; one who is really going to strengthen our back-line. He
possesses a tremendous amount speed and quickness. His ability to
track down the opponent is amazing. He has always been one of the
fastest players on the pitch.”
“We really need to improve
the speed of our back line, to go along with our size and strength.
Ben give us that.”
“Ben has had an amazing prep
career, and is a winner at everything he does. His competitiveness
has always made everyone around him better.”
“I'm glad to have him back!”
Ben is the son of Roy and
Donna Cummins of Buhler, Kan.

Dick
signs with McPherson soccer
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Lance Dick of Hutchinson, Kan., to a soccer
letter of intent for the 2007-2008 school year.

Joining
Lance for his letter of intent signing are (front, left) McPherson
College head coach Doug Quint and (back) his parents Janet and Dennis
Dick.
Lance, 5'10” and 155 pounds,
was a four-year letter winner for Hutchinson High School. He was
credited with 12 goals and 10 assists for coach Chris Reeves.
Dick was twice named to the
Ark Valley Chisholm Trail Division I second team. As a senior, he
was named to the All-Area second team.
Lance played club soccer
for Club Azzurri and the RCSC 89 Warriors.
“I'm very excited about the
Lance joining us at McPherson College,” said McPherson College head
soccer coach, Doug Quint. “Lance, his family, and I have a long
history together. His father played a huge part in the development
of Club Azzurri and the building of the soccer facility in Hutchinson.”
“Lance started playing soccer
for me at the age of seven with Club Azzurri and continued until
I took the job here at McPherson College.”
“Last year, I began training
his club team out of Wichita, the 89 River City Warriors. The Warriors,
made up of players from Wichita, Hutchinson and Manhattan, are currently
ranked #2 in the state of Kansas and #23 in Region 2 according to
Got Soccer national rankings.”
“Lance has had a great career
and has been impact player on every team he has played on. He's
technical with the ball and has good vision under pressure. I'm
looking forward to Lance's years at McPherson College.”
Lance received the American
Legion Student Award and was a delegate to the 2006 American Legion
Boys State.
Carrying a 3.8 GPA, Lance
has been on the Principal's honor roll all four years at Hutchinson
HS.
Lance is the son of Dennis
and Janet Dick of Hutchinson, Kan.

Torres
signs with McPherson soccer
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Spencer Torres of Buhler, Kan., to a soccer
letter of intent for the 2007-2008 school year.
The 5'11” Torres earned second
team All-Ark Valley Chisholm Trail and honorable mention All-State
honors as a senior at Buhler High School.

and his mother Terri.
Team captain his senior
season under coach Tim Harris, Torres was a three-year letterman
and named the Crusaders' “Most inspirational Player.” In his final
prep season, Spencer scored eight goals and dished off five assists
for the 14-4 Crusaders, who were #2 ranked in Class 4A and undefeated
Ark Valley League Division III champions.
An outstanding student, Spencer
has been named as a recipient of the McPherson College “Presidential
Scholarship”.
“I
am very pleased to have Spencer as a Bulldog, here at McPherson
College,” said McPherson College head soccer coach, Doug
Quint.
“He
had a great prep career at Buhler High School with a lot of success!
I look for him to just continue where he left off!” noting
that Torres played on two KSHSAA regional championship teams.
“Spencer first played for
me with Club Azzurri, starting at the age of 10. I enjoyed coaching
him then and I am glad to have him back on my sidelines. Spencer
is a versatile, left-footed player, and has the ability to play
left-back or the outside mid-field position.”
“It's always nice to get
a quality local player, but in this case it's extra special. He
and I have history together and his parents are both active alums
of McPherson College.”
Spencer is the son of Ivan
and Terri Torres of Buhler, Kan.
A legacy student, Spencer's
parents both graduated from McPherson College, where his father
was part of two KCAC champion cross country teams and held the school
record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
