CENTRAL WOMEN 3, MAC 0 -- Central coach Mike Reimer believes he has some special freshmen this year.
Two of them who are especially making their mark are Lauren Layman and Molly Erickson, who led the Lady Tigers to their first victory after tying their season opener.
Layman had a goal and an assist, while Erickson added a goal, as Central pulled away in the second half.
Amy Petekavich assisted on Layman's goal, while Layman and Lauren Clark assisted on Erickson's. The final goal came on a direct kick from Annie Sherman.
"I felt like we played pretty well," Reimer said. "McPherson has some good players. Hats off to coach Doug Quint for the job he did recruiting after taking over. They're going to do well in the KCAC."
"I thought for a first-year program, we played well," Quint said, adding that the team was competive to the end.
Central, now 1-0-1, is home Thursday against Manhattan Christian. Mac, now 0-2, plays Wednesday at Saint Mary.
