Buhl
named NAIA All-Region IV soccer pick
McPherson College freshman
Monique Buhl was recently named to the All-Region IV soccer second
team in a vote of the region's coaches.
Buhl
was previously selected by the coaches of the Kansas Collegiate
Athletic Conference as the KCAC Women's “Freshman of the Year” and
named to the women's All-KCAC first team.
“Monique is a very special
player and is very deserving of this honor,” said Doug Quint, McPherson
College head soccer coach. “For her to be selected as one of the
best players in the region as a freshman, speaks very highly of
what she was able to accomplish this season.”
Buhl was one of only three
freshmen named to region's first or second teams.
“Not very many players are
recognized as being the top players in the region when the team
they play for finishes below .500.”
“This is a great honor for
her, her family, teammates, and McPherson College . It definitely
shows we are heading in the right direction as a program with the
quality of student-athletes we are bringing in.”
A 2005 graduate of Temple
( Texas ) High School, Monique was the lone Lady Bulldog named to
the All-KCAC first team this fall. The freshman forward led McPherson
with 16 regular season goals to which she added three assists for
a team high 35 points.
“In my opinion, she was one
of the best strikers in the KCAC. She was very dangerous all season,
capable of scoring on any possession, and gave us so much up top.”
“Being just a freshman, I
really look forward to Monique's improvement over the next three
years. She has the opportunity to be a very special player at McPherson
College .”
The
Lady bulldogs finished 2005 with a 6-9-3 overall record, tying the
school record for wins in a season first set in 2004.
