Coming off a school record six wins in 2004, it was still again another young squad taking the field for the Lady Bulldogs in 2005.

Going into the season, the Bulldogs weren’t sure where their scoring would come from, but they believed their defense would be able to keep them in games until the offense developed.  Then, 2004 All-KCAC honorable keeper Lindsey Latham suffered a broken leg prior to the opener and University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma exposed both areas though in the season lid-lifter, a 7-0 loss.

After receiving a forfeit from Bacone College, improvement could be seen in the play of the Bulldogs in losses to NCAA D-III Greenville College (5-2) and Central Christian College (1-0).

The break-though came when, after a shuffle of personnel, McPherson turned back York College by a 4-0 score.  That win was followed by 3-1 and 3-0 wins at Oklahoma Wesleyan and Manhattan Christian.

A weekend trip to Oklahoma resulted in losses at Oklahoma Christian University and Oklahoma Baptist prior to the beginning of KCAC play.

The Lady Bulldogs opened their KCAC season with a 1-0 win at Bethel, but a disappointing 2-0 loss at Saint Mary followed.

McPherson opened October with a 2-0 victory over Bethany, its sixth win of the season, but then dropped a 4-1 decision at Ottawa, which would go on to an undefeated KCAC season.

Still trying to pick up a school record seventh win on the season, the Lady Bulldogs went a disappointing 0-2-3 in their final five games including double overtime ties with Tabor and Friends, a 1-1 tie with Southwestern which was called with five minutes to play due to lightning, and a pair of one goal losses, one of those in overtime.

Close, yet so far from the real break through the Lady Bulldogs are working toward.

Monique Buhl led the Lady Bulldogs’ post-season honor roll.  Buhl was named to the All-KCAC first team, KCAC Freshman of the Year, and finally to the All-Region IV second team.  Laura Engquist, Victoria Salas, and Denise Rinke were all named to the All-KCAC honorable mention squad.

With only two seniors, Lisa Sader and Rylee Miller, on the final 2005 roster, the Lady Bulldogs are just a few players away from being the impact team in the KCAC they have as a goal.
