Monique Buhl , a 2005 graduate of Temple (Texas) High School, was previously named to the All-KCAC first team as a forward this fall after being named to the NAIA Region IV second team as a freshman when she set a new school record with 16 goals in 2005. Four Bulldogs named first team All-KCAC soccer picks

McPherson College sophomore Monique Buhl, junior Victoria Salas, and senior Denise Rinke have been named to the 2006 All-KCAC (Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference) soccer first teams in a vote by the conference's coaches.

Sara Kramme received women's honorable mention All-KCAC recognition.

“I was very pleased with the number of honors received by our young women,” said Doug Quint, McPherson College head soccer coach. “Each was very deserving. I felt with the seasons we had, we should have had more players recognized and/or ranked higher.”

Monique Buhl , a 2005 graduate of Temple (Texas) High School, was named to the All-KCAC first team for the second time this fall. The sophomore forward led McPherson with 11 regular season goals and 11 assists for a team high 33 points in just 13 games. Buhl was named the KCAC “Player of the Week” for September 4-10 when she scored five goals and dished off six assists as the Lady Bulldogs went 2-1 with wins over Manhattan Christian College and Mid-America Christian University, and a loss to regionally ranked University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma. Last season, Buhl was named to the NAIA Region IV second team after scoring a school record 16 goals.

“Monique played very well this season despite dealing with injuries all year,” said Quint. “Finally her season came to an end at home against Friends with a torn meniscus.”

“Monique is a very dangerous offensive player who creates all kinds of things around her. We definitely struggled offensively this year without her on the field.”

“I plan on making sure she works really hard this off-season to get back to playing at 110%.”

A bio-chemistry major, Monique is the daughter of Massey and Denise Buhl of Temple, Texas.

Denise Rinke, a 2003 graduate of Haysville-Campus High School, was named to the All-KCAC first team as a midfielder after being named to the all-conference honorable mention squad as a junior. She transferred to McPherson College from Allen County (Kan.) Community College where she won All-Region NJCAA honors. The senior midfielder scored 5 goals and dished off 3 assists in 18 games this season.

“Denise will definitely be missed! She is going to be a hard one to replace.”

“We depended on Denise in the center of mid-field for possession of the ball. She is one of the most dedicated and hard working players I have every coached.”

“Denise had a great senior year and really deserved the all-conference recognition. She solidified herself as one of the best mid-fielders in the conference and it was nice that other coaches recognized this.”

Denise is the daughter of Peggy Rinke of Wichita , Kan. She is majoring in psychology.

Victoria Salas, a 2004 graduate of Wichita (Kans.) East High School , was named a first team All-KCAC defender this fall after being named to the All-KCAC honorable mention squad as a junior. Salas anchored the Lady Bulldogs backline.

“Defensively, Victoria was our foundation. She held us together all year long and really provided us with a strong center back.”

“ Victoria is a very good player in the air and tackles the ball very hard. Teams had a hard time scoring on us this year and her leadership and ability back there had a lot to due with it. She had a good season for us this year and continued to improve each day.”

A junior majoring in biology, Victoria is the daughter of Kim Hodgen of Wichita , Kans.

Sara Kramme, a 2004 graduate of Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Community High School, Adel, Iowa, and a transfer this fall from Iowa Central Community College , received honorable mention All-KCAC honors as a goal keeper.

Kramme posted five regular season shut-outs.

“Sara really came up with some big saves when called upon this year.”

“We really relied on her to organize us defensively with her experience.

“I felt Sara was deserving of more than an honorable mention selection, but at least some coaches recognized her ability.”

Sara is the daughter of Stave and Ana Kramme of Adel, Iowa. She is junior, art education major.

The 2006 Lady Bulldogs finished their season with a 4-4-1 KCAC record, finishing in a tied for fifth and qualifying for the conference post-season tournament for the first time in school history. Their overall record of 8-8-1, set a new school record the most wins in a season, breaking the previous record of six set in 2004 and equaled in 2005.
