2006 Players of the Week

McPherson sweeps soccer “Player of the Week” honors;

Daniels named KCAC POW

McPherson College freshmen Bryanna Daniels and Armando Rodriguez were named the KCAC men's and women's soccer “Player of the Week” for the week of October 1-7, 2006.

Daniels scored two goals and added one assist as the Lady Bulldogs were undefeated and unscored on in defeating Bethel (5-0), Ottawa (1-0), and Tabor (4-0) last week.

On Saturday, Daniels contributed two second half goals to McPherson's 4-0 win at Tabor.

I was very excited to hear Bryanna was recognized for her performance last week, ” said Doug Quint, McPherson College head coach. “ She had a nice week individually, to go along with our great team performance.”

“Bryanna continues to get better every time she steps on the field.”

A 2006 graduate of Longmont , Colo. , High School, Daniels is currently tied for fifth among KCAC players with 0.64 goals per game and ranks sixth in total goals scored with seven goals in 11 games played. She also ranks fifth in the conference in points per game (1.55) and seventh in total points scored.

The Lady Bulldogs' three wins raised their season record to 8-4-0, 4-1-0 in KCAC play, and moved McPherson into the NAIA Region IV rankings at the #5 spot. McPherson's eight wins on the season is a school record, breaking the previous record of six wins set in 2004 and tied in 2005.

Rodriguez and Daniels join Bulldog teammates John White and Monique Buhl as 2006 KCAC “Player of the Week” selections. Earlier this season, White and Buhl's conference recognition was followed by their being named “Region IV Player of the Week”.

Buhl named KCAC and NAIA Region IV POW

McPherson College sophomore Monique Buhl was named to the KCAC and Region IV women's soccer “Player of the Week” for the week of September 4-10, 2006.

Buhl scored five goals and dished off six assists during the Lady Bulldogs' 2-1 week.

Buhl netted two goals and delivered two assists against Manhattan Christian College, scored McPherson's only goal against NAIA regionally ranked University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma, and finished her week with two goals and four assists against Mid-America Christian University.

“I'm very happy for Monique, and McPherson College soccer, that she was recognized for her performance last week,” said Doug Quint, McPherson College head coach. “She is very deserving of this recognition.”

“I have very high expectations for Monique and she has those same expectations of herself. Monique had a great freshman season and wants to perform at a higher level this year. She has definitely started her sophomore campaign off on the right foot!”

During the week, McPherson sandwiched wins over Manhattan Christian (5-0) and Mid-America Christian (11-1) around a lost to the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma (4-1), the NAIA Region VI's 5 th ranked team.

This week the Lady Bulldogs moved into the NAIA Region IV rankings for the first time in school history, occupying the #5 spot.

A 2005 graduate of Temple ( Texas ) High School, Buhl was named to the 2005 NAIA All-Region IV second team after earlier being selected by the coaches of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference as the KCAC Women's “Freshman of the Year” and named to the All-KCAC first team. She was one of only three freshmen named to region's first or second teams. As a freshman forward, she led McPherson with 16 regular season goals to which she added three assists for a team high 35 points.
