Lady
Bulldogs receive All-American soccer honors
Three Lady Bulldogs, led
by senior defender Victoria Salas, have been named to the honorable
mention NAIA women's soccer All-American team.
Joining Salas on the NAIA
elite squad were sophomore midfielder Whitney Williams and freshman
keeper Andrea Swanson.
Victoria
Salas ' selection to the All-American list rounded out
her selections as All-Region and All-KCAC first team honors. 2006
was her second season to be named to the all-region and conference
teams. As a sophomore, the Wichita East graduate was named to the
All-KCAC honorable mention squad.
Salas was credited with three
goals during the regular season.
Whitney
Williams selection to the NAIA All-American squad topped
her earlier selections to the All-Region IV and All-KCAC first teams
as a midfielder.
The sophomore midfielder
finished the season with eight goals, four assists, and 20 points
and ranked in the KCAC's top ten in points per game.
a 2006 graduate of Skyline
High School in Salt Lake City, Utah, Williams transferred to McPherson
College this fall from York College in Nebraska , where she received
All-MCAC and NCCAA All-Central Region honors as a freshman at York
(Nebr.) College.
Andrea
Swanson's recognition as an honorable mention All-American
concludes her outstanding freshman season. The 2007 graduate of
Heritage High School in Littleton, Colo., was previously selected
as the first team All-Region IV goalkeeper and adds to her season's
awards which included being named the All-KCAC first team keeper
as well as KCAC “Goalkeeper and Co-Defensive Player of the Year”.
During the regular season,
Swanson was credited with a conference best and school record nine
shut-out wins. She concluded the 2007 season following post-season
play with 99 total saves, 10 shut-outs, and a goal against average
of just 0.932.

IV recognition in a recent of of the region's coaches.
Joining Salas on the All-Region
first team were sophomore midfielder Whitney Williams and freshman
keeper Andrea Swanson.
Haley Cook, freshman forward,
was named to the All-Region IV second team.
Victoria Salas' selection
to the All-Region first team was her second after receiving the
same designation a year ago. Earlier this fall, Salas was also named
to the All-KCAC first team for a second time. As a sophomore, Victoria
was named to the All-KCAC honorable mention squad.

Haley Cook
was named to the All-Region IV second team after earlier receiving
first team All-KCAC honors as a forward.
With 16 regular season goals,
Cook tied the McPherson single season record, a record she would
break with four additional goals in post-season tournament play.
Also credited with three assists, Cook posted a school record season
total of 43 points.

leads women's All-KCAC selections
McPherson College freshman
Andrea Swanson was named 2007 KCAC Women's Soccer “Goalkeeper of
the Year” and “Co-Defensive Player of the Year” in a recent vote
of the conference's coaches.
Four Lady Bulldogs were named to the
All-KCAC first teams. Senior Victoria Salas was named as a defender
along with sophomore Whitney Williams as a mid-fielder and freshmen
Haley Cook and Andrea Swanson as forward and goalkeeper, respectively.
Sophomore Nicolette Rodriguez
was named to the All-KCAC second team while freshman Ana Calderon
received women's honorable mention recognition.
“I was very pleased with
the number of honors received by our young women,” said Doug Quint,
McPherson College head soccer coach. “Each was very deserving.”
Victoria
Salas, a 2004 graduate of Wichita (Kans.) East High School,
was named a first team All-KCAC defender for a second time this
fall after being named to the All-KCAC honorable mention squad as
a sophomore. Salas was the anchor of the Lady Bulldogs' backline.
Salas was credited with three
goals during the regular season.
Last season, Salas was named
to the All-KCAC and NAIA All-Region IV first teams and received
honorable mention All-American recognition.
A senior majoring in biology,
Victoria is the daughter of Kim Hodgen of Wichita, Kans.
Andrea
Swanson, a 2007 graduate of Heritage High School in Littleton,
Colo., was named to the All-KCAC first team as well as KCAC “Goalkeeper
and Co-Defensive Player of the Year”.
During the regular season,
Swanson was credited with a conference best and school record nine
shut-out wins. She had 68 saves, and gave up a total of 15 goals
in the Lady Bulldogs 16 matches.
An elementary education major,
Andrea is the daughter of Scott and Joyce Swanson of Littleton,
Colo.
Whitney
Williams, a 2006 graduate of Skyline High School in Salt
Lake City, Utah, was named to the All-KCAC first team as a midfielder
after transferring to McPherson College from York (Nebr.) College
where she won all-conference and All-Region honors.
The sophomore midfielder
finished the regular season with seven goals, four assists, and
18 points to rank in the KCAC's top ten in points per game.
Whitney is the daughter of
Nash and Ann Williams of Salt Lake City, Utah . She is majoring
in biology.
Haley
Cook, a 2007 graduate of Arapahoe High School, Centennial,
Colo., received first team All-KCAC honors as a forward.
With 16 regular season goals,
Cook tied the McPherson single season record, a record she would
break in post-season tournament play. Also credited with three assists,
she posted a regular season total of 35 points, again tying a school
record she would break in the post-season.
Cook is the daughter of Brad
and Shirlee Cook of Centennial, Colo. She is undecided on a major.
Nicolette
Rodriguez, a 2006 graduate of Central High School in Keller,
Texas, received second team All-KCAC honors as a defender. Nicolette,
along with Salas, helped provide a defensive wall in front of Swanson
which produced nine regular season shut-out wins for the Lady Bulldogs.
Rodriguez is the daughter
of Carlos and Kathy Rodriguez of Orlando , Florida . She is a biochemistry/pre-med
major.
Ana
Calderon, a 2007 graduate of Aurora-Grandview High School,
Longmont, Colo., received honorable mention All-KCAC honors as a
forward.
Ana provided three goals
and four assists to the McPherson offensive attack.
Calderon is the daughter
of Antonio and Anna Calderon of Lone Tree, Colo. She is a communications
major.
