Signings
The following is a list of all signings for the 2008 season
starting with the most recent signing.
Cornell
inks with McPherson soccer
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Rachael Cornell of Colorado Springs, Colo.,
and Rampart High School to a soccer letter of intent for the 2008-2009
school year.
The
5'4” Cornell was named to the Colorado Springs All-City squad as
a junior, highlighting her four-year varsity career under coach
Bre Brubaker.
Outside the interscholastic
season, Rachael was named her U-17 team's MVP for the 2006 season.
"Rachael will be a quality
addition to the McPherson College program this fall,” said McPherson
College soccer coach Robert Talley. “Her athleticism and ability
to read the game will help control the tempo in the middle third
of the field.”
“Rachael will be pairing
up with two of her former club teammates (incoming freshmen Diana
Ford and Stachea Perea) to help solidify the offensive attack for
the Bulldogs.
Rachael is the daughter of
Josie Cornell of Colorado Springs , Colo. Rachael plans to major
in psychology at McPherson College.

Castro
signs with McPherson women's soccer
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Jessica Castro of Westminster, Colo., to a
soccer letter of intent for the 2008-2009 school year.
The 5'5” Castro played interscholastically
at Northglenn High School , Northglenn, Colo., lettering three years
for coach Jeff Carol.
“Jessica's a late signing
and welcomed addition to the soccer program,” said McPherson College
women's soccer coach Robert Talley. “After watching Jessica kick
around with some of the players I feel she's going to be a great
utility player for us this fall.”
“She has a nice read for
the game, a solid shot, and is tremendously quick.”
“I'm looking for her to step
in immediately and challenge for playing time. At this point I'll
be looking for her to jump into the rotation with Haley Cook and
Shea Pulis.”
Castro will be joining her
cousin, sophomore Ana Calderon as a member of the Lady Bulldogs.
Jessica is the daughter of
Jesse and Dianna Castro of Westminster, Colo. She plans to major
in marketing.

Rotering
signs with McPherson soccer
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Anneliese Rotering of Colorado Springs, Colo.,
and Falcon High School to a soccer letter of intent for the 2008-2009
school year.
The 5'6” Rotering lettered
four years in soccer and three seasons in basketball for Falcon
HS.

Rotering received first
team all-conference honors in soccer following her senior season
when she was also named Falcon High's most valuable player. As a
junior, she was named Falcon High's best defensive player, and as
a sophomore FHS' MVP.
Anneliese was named to the
honorable mention all-conference basketball squad at the conclusion
of her senior season.
“I'm very happy to announce
the signing of Anneliese. I feel she's going to be able to impact
our defensive third immediately upon her arrival.”
“We lost a top quality center
back in Vicitoria Salas to graduation and I knew it was going to
be difficult replacing someone of her caliber.”
“I believe Anneliese is going
to be able to step into Victoria 's shoes and follow in her footsteps
while wearing the #7 jersey.”
“Anneliese came to our campus
over our 6-on-6 tournament weekend, and she and the girls on the
team bonded immediately. Most of the ladies on the team told me
to make sure I sign her as soon as possible. This was very comforting
to know as a coach that the squad immediately accepted her.”
“She will still have to work
hard in order to step onto the pitch. I have three other players
who are fighting for the position, so this fall should be interesting.”
The daughter of Teri Rotering,
Anneliese plans to major in biochemistry with a mathematics minor
at McPherson College.

Two
sign with McPherson women's soccer
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Stachea Perea of Colorado
Springs, Colo., and Brittany Ramirez of Midlothian,
Texas, to soccer letters of intent for the 2008-2009 school year.
The 5'0” Perea
is a 2008 graduate of Doherty High School, where she was a three-year
letter winner in soccer for coach Jon Shub.
“Stachea
is a great addition to our Bulldog squad for this fall,” said McPherson
women's coach Rob Talley. “I've been speaking to Stachea since her
junior year, and eagerly waiting for this day to finally come. Stachea
will be joining two teammates from her club team at McPherson this
fall.”
“Stachea is a solid midfielder
who has the technical ability to control opponents as well as a
great read for the game. I really like her composure with the ball.
She keeps the game simple and lets the ball do most of the work.”
“I can see Stachea challenging
immediately for playing time this fall. Our midfield is stacked
with talent so it's up to each of the players to bring their ‘A'
game every day.”
Stachea is the daughter of
David and Michelle Perea of Colorado Springs, Colo. She plans to
major in psychology.
The 5'2” Ramirez
was a two-year letter winner for coach Austin Guest at
Midlothian High School .
Ramirez
was a first team All-District 9-4A honoree as a senior after being
an honorable mention selection as a junior. Outside of the interscholastic
season, Ramirez was the leading scorer for Texas Lighting and captain
and leading scorer for Matrix Soccer.
“I'm extremely pleased to
announce the signing of Brittany. I've been looking for the right
player to step in and help relieve some of the pressure on our sophomore
returning forward Haley Cook.”
“I liked Brittany and her
style of play the first time I saw her at a tournament in Texas
earlier this year. I watched her again this spring at the Lightning
Showcase, where she hit a 25-yard shot into the upper corner in
front of my KCAC coaching friends. The expressions on their faces
reassured me that I hit the jackpot when Brittany committed to us
for this fall.”
“When she came to campus
for a visit, the girls (on the team) really liked her physical style
of play and her ability to finish quality shots with either foot.
With Brittany and Haley up top this fall, we have the makings of
a lethal force to be reckoned with.”
The daughter of Joel and
Tonja Good of Midlothian, Texas, Brittany plans to major in elementary
education.

Enid
pair sign with McPherson soccer
McPherson College has
announced the recent signing of Shea Pulis and Emily Herron
of Enid, Okla., to soccer letters of intent for the 2008-2009 school
year.
“These two ladies will make
a great addition to the solid recruiting class we've brought in
for this fall,” said McPherson soccer coach Robert Talley. “Emily
and Shea work very well together in the offensive third, usually
when one is scoring, the other is assisting on the goal.”

The 5'5” Pulis
received all-conference and honorable mention all-state and all-district
honors this past season. She was named Enid High's 2008 Most Valuable
Player after scoring six goals and dishing off six assists for coach
Craig Liddell.
"Shea is simply a workhorse
in the offensive third (of the field),” said Talley. “She can play
as center midfielder or forward with pace and productivity.”
“I am looking far Shea to
do most of her work as an attacking forward this fall.”
“I like her shooting range
and ability to distribute the ball. Tactically, Shea is strong and
she has a leg that can finish from distance, which is something
we've lacked in the past.”
Shea is the daughter of Charles
and Tina Pulis of Enid, Okla. She plans to major in elementary education.
The 5'0” Herron
was named all-conference and all-district in addition to receiving
honorable mention all-state recognition in 2008. She was also named
Enid High's offensive MVP after scoring six goals and having eight
assists for coach Craig Liddell
“Emily is very quick and
technical with the ball as an outside midfielder. She has a throw-in
that will be very helpful in our attacking third,” added Talley.
“Emily seemed to immediately
fit in with the team when she first visited campus.”
“I am looking for Emily to
pressure the other players for immediate playing time.”
Herron also plans to participate
in cheerleading at McPherson College .
Emily is the daughter of
Leonard and Jackie Herron of Enid, Okla. Emily plans to major in
elementary education.

Weisenburger
signs with McPherson
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Brooke Weisenburger of Spring Hill, Kan.,
and Gardner-Edgerton High School to basketball and soccer letters
of intent for the 2008-2009 school year.
The 5'6” Weisenburger lettered
three years in both sports for the Trailblazers.

Joining
Brooke Weisenburger for her letter of intent signing were (front,

Brooke was a first team All-Frontier
League selection in soccer following her senior season.
"I feel more comfortable
now, knowing I have signed another quality goalkeeper in Brooke,”
said McPherson College soccer coach Robert Talley. “We played all
last season with just one goalkeeper and we played with the risk
of injury every game."
"I was impressed with Brooke
when she came to campus. She was eager to learn what she could do
to better herself as a goalkeeper."
"Brooke will be battling
for the starting spot.”
“I am extremely excited
about having Brooke join our team!,” said head McPherson College
women's basketball coach Shelly
Prescott. “She is first
and foremost a great young lady!”
“Brooke is very athletic
and will probably play a 3-guard for us. She is going to provide
us with good defense and good shooting range. She is a smart player
and a hard worker! Brooke will be able to contribute to both women's
basketball and the women's
soccer team as she is also
an outstanding goalie.”
“It is also neat, and exciting,
that my first signee played her high school basketball for Coach
(Scott) Schaefer, who was my high
school coach.”
Brooke is the daughter
of Bradley and Joleen Weisenburger of Spring Hill, Kan. She
plans to major in elementary education.

Arneson
signs with McPherson soccer
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Emily Arneson of Nickerson, Kan., and Cloud
County Community College to a soccer letter of intent for the 2008-2009
school year.

Emily
Arneson is joined by McPherson College soccer coach Robert Talley
for her letter of intent signing with the Lady Bulldogs.
The 5'8” Arneson has played
the past two seasons for former McPherson College coach Dane Straight
at Cloud County CC.
"I'm looking forward
to having the opportunity to train Emily this fall,” said McPherson
College soccer coach Robert Talley. “I really liked her personality
when she came for her campus visit. She possesses the desire to
accomplish any goal set forth before her. I feel she's going to
help the team in more ways then just as a player on the pitch.”
“Emily's a strong person
on the ball, has good size and vision, and works hard all game long.
She also has a good knowledge of the game and the ability to make
a quick read of what's about to happen.”
“I'm looking for Emily to
immediately put pressure on the current players in our defensive
third for playing time.”
Arneson competed in soccer,
basketball, and track & field during her prep days at Nickerson
High School .
Emily is the daughter of
Jim and Jamie Arneson of Nickerson, Kan.

Brandt
signs with McPherson soccer
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Shelly Brandt of Divide, Colo., and Woodland
Park High School to a soccer letter of intent for the 2008-2009
school year.
The 5'1” Brandt helped lead
Woodland Park High to the Colorado High School state playoffs the
spring of her junior year with five goals and three assists under
coach Andrew Pappadakis.

Joining
Shelly Brandt for her letter of intent were were (back, left) McPherson
college coach Robert Talley, Woodland Park HS coach Andrew Pappadakis,
and her parents Jenavie and Chris Brandt.
Brandt has also played
club soccer for the Rush Pikes Peak Swoosh, a Classic level club
out of Colorado Springs . This past year, the Swoosh placed second
in their division with an 8-1-1 record. Prior to joining the Swoosh,
she played in the Woodland Park classic level Pride competitive
league.
After scoring six goals along
with two assists in eight indoor games a year ago, Shelly had 12
goals through the first six games of the current indoor season.
"I'm very pleased to
announce the addition of Shelly Brandt to our soccer program for
the 2008 season,” said McPherson College soccer coach Robert Talley.
“She is a very technical player who's going to help control the
flow of the game in our midfield. As a proven goal scorer in high
school and club soccer, she's a threat either in the middle
or as an outside flank."
"Shelly is not only
a solid player, but she's also a quality individual, which
is what I look for in all of my recruits. I am focusing on recruiting
players who will become future role models for the program and the
college."
"Shelly has had
a desire to come here to McPherson College since her junior year.
I first met Shelly at our 6-on-6 tournament last April and I knew immediately
she was a player I wanted to have on the team for 2008."
Shelly is the daughter of
Chris and Jenavie Brandt of Divide, Colo.

Ford
joins McPherson Lady Bulldog soccer
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Diana Ford of Colorado Springs, Colo., and
Palmer High School to a soccer letter of intent for the 2008-2009
school year.
The 5'2” Ford has been a
three-year letter winner in soccer for coach Jim Keller at Palmer
High School. She was named MVP of the Terrors as a junior.

Outside of the interscholastic
season, Ford has played for the Colorado Springs Pride Chaos club
team under coach Mark Rogers.
"I am very excited to
add Diana to our soccer family at McPherson College,” said McPherson
College soccer coach Robert Talley. “Her work ethic and technical
ability with the ball are going to make her a solid contender for
time on the field.”
“Diana has the ability to
play in either the offensive or defensive third. Her vision on the
field and ability to shoot from distance are going to be key factors
in her final placement.”
“Diana's club coach, Mark
Rogers, did a great job helping me connect with Diana and some of
her teammates. I hope to sign two of her teammates in the near future.”
“I thought we might have
missed out on the opportunity to recruit Diana when we initially
had difficulty in visiting schedules. After she came to campus and
saw what we had to offer as a soccer program and college setting,
I knew we had a great chance of signing her.”
Diana is the daughter of
Robert and Evelyn Ford of Colorado Springs , Colo. She plans to
major in psychology.

Fowlds
inks with McPherson soccer
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Kelli Fowlds of Watauga, Texas, and Keller
Central High School to a soccer letter of intent for the 2008-2009
school year.
The 5'2” Fowlds was named
“Most Improved” and received the Chargers team spirit award under
coach Melissa Forgey. Kelli also lettered in cross country at Central
HS.

"I am pleased to announce
the signing of Kelli,” said McPherson College soccer coach Robert
Talley. “Kelli has been interested in McPherson College since her
junior year, and I am happy we were able to have everything she
wanted in a college when it was time to make her final decision.”
“When Kelli came for her
campus visit, and kicked around with our team, I could tell immediately
she was going to be a fit for the style of play I'm looking for
this fall.”
“Kelli is a true workhorse
in the midfield. She takes hits and continues to push forward. She
has the skills to be a utility player, one who can switch between
the center midfield role and the center back position.”
“Come next fall, I expect
Kelli to pressure others for a starting position.”
Upon her arrival at McPherson
College, Kelli will be reunited on the pitch with former Central
HS teammate Nicolette Rodriguez.
Kelli is the daughter of
Greg and Lisa Fowlds of Watauga, Texas. She plans to major in communications.

Goldsmith
signs with McPherson women's soccer
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Sarah Goldsmith of Augusta, Kan., to a soccer
letter of intent for the 2008-2009 school year.

Joining
Sarah Goldsmith for her letter of intent signing were her mother,
Audry Goldsmith, along with (back, left) Augusta assistant soccer
coach Seth Carey, Augusta High head soccer coach Monty Rowland,
and McPherson soccer coach Robert Talley.

The 5'8” Goldsmith was
named to the Ark Valley Chisholm Trail D-III first team in 2006.
Three-year letter winner in soccer, twice in tennis, and once in
softball, Sarah was named the Most Valuable Performer for the Orioles
of Augusta High School and coach Monty Rowland.
“I feel that Sarah's going to be a
quality addition to our young program next fall,” said McPherson
College soccer coach Robert Talley. “She has the desire to be successful
and the determination to fight for the starting position in the
goal.”
“Sarah is my diamond in the
rough. She has a great read for the game and soft hands, which is
what every coach wants from their keepers. I feel there are only
a couple of things we need to adjust in her technique. She has the
potential to improve dramatically in next four years.”
“I worried this past fall
about only having one goalkeeper, because of the fear of injury.
Fortunately, (freshman All-KCAC keeper) Andrea (Swanson) stayed
healthy for most of the season and we weren't put in the situation
of using a field player (in goal).”
Goldsmith also plans to play
tennis for the Lady Bulldogs and coach Dan Leddy at McPherson College.
Sarah placed 10 th in the
Class 4-1A state girls' tennis tournament this past fall.
Playing two sports was one
of the reasons Goldsmith signed to play and continue her education
at McPherson College. “If it (playing tennis) were to change, I
might also play softball.”
Sarah is the daughter of
Audry Goldsmith of Augusta , Kan. She plans to major in physical
education.
