Nine
Lady Bulldogs receive ALL-KCAC recognition
McPherson College 's
Matapony Collette, Darci Davison, Jamie Schropp, and Crystal
Richardson have been named to the 2005 All-KCAC (Kansas
Collegiate Athletic Conference) softball second team in a vote by
the conference's coaches. Sarah Mauck, Ellie Miller, Christa
Blose, Jessica DeCavelle, and Tara Loyd
each received honorable mention all-conference recognition.
All-KCAC Second Team
Matapony
Collette – A senior catcher/third baseman from Lecompton,
Kan., and Perry-Lecompton High School , Collette received All-KCAC
honors for the fourth straight season. She hit for an average of
.289 this season with team highs of 41 hits and 142 plate appearances.
She was second on the Bulldog roster with seven extra base hits,
five doubles, a triple and a home run. Collette's 22 runs batted
in ranked second for the Bulldogs.
Darci
Davison – A junior first baseman from McPherson, Kan.,
Davison received up all-conference honors for the second time in
her two seasons at McPherson College . She led the Lady Bulldogs
with a .325 batting average and was second in doubles with seven.
Her slugging percentage of .410 was second among the Bulldogs and
her on base percentage of .391 led the Bulldogs with more than 50
plate appearances.
Jamie
Schropp – A sophomore pitcher from Salina, Kan., and Southeast
of Saline High School, Schropp picked up second team honors in 2005
after being named to the All-KCAC honorable mention squad as a freshman.
She led McPherson's pitching staff with 10 wins and 128 innings
pitched.
Crystal
Richardson – A senior centerfielder from Muskogee, Okla.,
Richardson had received honorable mention All-KCAC honors as a freshman
and sophomore. She led McPherson with 23 runs scored and hit for
an average of .295 with 38 hits, tying for second among the Lady
Bulldogs. Her .457 slugging percentage led McPherson as did her
26 runs batted in, five triples, and two home runs. Her five three-bag
hits ranked sixth in the KCAC.
Honorable Mention
Sarah
Mauck – A freshman pitcher/third baseman from Wichita,
Kan., and Goddard High School , Mauck hit for an average of .296,
tying for second on the Lady Bulldog roster. On the mound, Mauck
led McPherson with a 3.23 ERA while compiling a 5-11 record.
Ellie
Miller – A junior catcher from Kearney, Nebr., and McCook
College , Miller led McPherson with eight doubles while hitting
.275 with 38 hits in 138 appearances. Her 38 hits tied for second
among the Bulldogs. She ranked second among the Bulldogs with a
.990 fielding percentage, committing only one error. She threw out
a team high eight runners attempting to steal base.
Christa
Blose – A junior shortstop from Stillwater, Okla, and Ripley
High School , Blose previously received honorable mention recognition
as a 2003. She tied for second among the Lady Bulldogs with a .296
batting average and tied for third with five doubles. Blose drew
a team high 15 base on balls.
Jessica
DeCavelle – A junior second baseman from Paola, Kan., and
Kansas City Community College , DeCavelle scored 22 runs to rank
second among the Lady Bulldogs, while hitting for an average of
.278. Jessica's 12 stolen bases ranked second in the conference
while her perfect 12 for 12 stolen base attempts led the KCAC.
Tara
Loyd – A senior catcher from Boise City, Okla., and Coffeyville
Community College , Loyd hit for an average of .291and a slugging
percentage of .364.
