2005 Signings
The following is a list of signings for the 2005 season starting with the most recent signing.


Evans signs with Bulldog softball

McPherson College has announced the recent signing of Abby Evans of Council Grove , Kan. , to a softball letter of intent for the 2004-2005 academic year.

The 5'6” Evans was a three-year starter for the Lady Braves of Council Grove High School at the shortstop and third base positions.

Evans lead the team in runs batted in all three years. As a senior, she led the Lady Braves coached by Amy Finch in hits, runs scored, fielding putouts, walks, batting average, and doubles

In 2003, she was named the Red Hots softball tournament team “Utility Player of the Year.”

Evans was a two-year starter in volleyball for CGHS, and was named a UCA all-star cheerleader her senior year.

“Abby is a good shortstop-third baseman with a great work ethic,” said McPherson College softball coach Mike McCormick. “She will be a solid bat.”

“Abby is the type of student that fits the mission of the College to develop whole students through scholarship, participation, and service.”

“Abby will come in and contribute right away, and compete for a starting spot.”

“We are happy that McPherson College is where she has decided to continue her education and softball career.”

Abby is the daughter of Dana and Becky Evans of Council Grove , Kan.

Yungberg twins join Mac softball
McPherson College has announced the recent signing of Mallory and Mandy Yungeberg of Blue Rapids-Valley Heights High School and Waterville, Kan., to softball letters of intent for the 2004-2005 academic year.

With no interscholastic softball available at Valley Heights, he 5’5” twins competed in volleyball, basketball and track for the Mustangs, then joined the Marysville Magic for summer softball where Mallory was a pitcher/third baseman and Mandy was a catcher/outfielder.

During their play with the Magic, they were part a Class B 12 & under state championship squad as well as a 14 & under squad that finished fourth at state, then third at regionals. Their 16 & under team complied a 25-15 mark.

“Mallory will come in and strengthen our pitching staff,” said McPherson College softball coach mike McCormick. “She has good speed and throws four pitches.”

“Mandy will contend for a spot in our outfield, and definitely will increase the competition for playing time among our outfielders,” said McCormick. “A bonus will be her ability to catch for us, if we need her to.”

“Both girls are good students, and have played for a good summer league program at Marysville. I believe they will fit well into the McPherson College family.”

Mallory intends to major in communications at McPherson College while Mandy will major in elementary education.

Mallory and Mandy are the daughters of Roy and Keli Yungeberg of Waterville, Kan.

Mauck joins Bulldog softball
McPherson College has announced the recent signing of Sarah Mauck of Wichita, Kan., to a softball letter of intent for the 2004-2005 academic year.

The 5’5”Mauck was a second team All-Chisholm Trail League selection as a pitcher following the Lions’ 2003 season. In addition to competing in softball, Mauck was a two-year participant in golf at Goddard High.

“Sarah is one of the top ten pitchers in the state of Kansas,” said McPherson College softball coach Mike McCormick. “Besides being a great pitcher she can play the infield and hit for average with power. She comes from a great summer program as well as a good high school program at Goddard High School.”

Mauck's summer team won the 18U USSSA Kansas state championship, placed 2nd in the ASA 16U Kansas championships, and 33rd in the nation at the ASA 16U Nationals.

Sarah, who will graduate this spring from Goddard High School, is a member of National Honors Society at Goddard High.

“Sarah will come here and be an impact player as a model student. She is the kind of student-athlete we want here at McPherson College. Plus, she comes from a great, supportive family.”

“We are very proud to have Sarah as a McPherson College Bulldog.”

Sarah is the daughter of Cuy and Kerri Mauck of Wichita, Kan. She plans to major in pre-dentistry at McPherson College.
