Viehman and Yungeberg named KCAC Players of the Week

McPherson College's Erikka Viehman and Mallory Yungeberg were named KCAC Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week for their performances during the week of March 13, as the Lady Bulldogs posted a 2-1 record in the weather shortened Sterling Invitational Tournament.

Erikka Viehman (5-8, freshman from Gunnison , Colo. ) had two home runs in the Bulldogs' 3-2 loss to Graceland University . She followed with a two-hit, four-rbi performance including a three-run over-the-fence home run as McPherson defeated Oklahoma Weslyan, 9-0. Viehman then finished off her day with a one-hit, one-rbi performance as McPherson turned back Newman University , 7-3.

On the day, Viehman was four of seven at the plate with three home runs and driving in seven runs.

Viehman currently leads the Lady Bulldogs with a .419 batting average and 15 runs batted in, and a .871 slugging percentage in 13 games played.

Mallory Yungeberg (5-5, sophomore from Waterville , Kan. , and Blue Rapids-Valley Heights High School ) pitched the first no-hitter in McPherson College softball history, blanking Oklahoma Wesleyan University , 9-0.

Yungeberg faced just two over the minimum 15 batters in the five-inning, time-limit shortened contest. She struck out three and walked none, while allowing only two balls to be hit out of the infield in picking up her first win of the season.

Yungeberg's teammates backed her with an 11-hit attack while committing two errors.

McPherson now stands 6-7 on the season.
