Signings
The following is a list of signings for the 05-06 season
starting with the most recent signing.
Parsons
signs with Lady Bulldogs
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Taylor Parsons of Westminster, Colo., to a
softball letter of intent for the 2005-2006 school year.

Joining
Taylor Parsons in celebrating her letter of intent signing are (front,

A 2005 Standley Lake High
School in Westminster, Parsons will be joining high school teammate
Amy Ziegler as a Lady Bulldog this year.
The 5'1” Parsons was co-captain
and named most improved varsity player as a senior for Standley
Lake High School under coach Carrie Ott.
“Taylor has good range in
the outfield,” said Mike McCormick, McPherson College head softball
coach.
“Taylor's adjustment to the
college game will be important in her contribution to our program,
but I can see her helping us out on in the future.”
Taylor is the daughter of
Kirk Parsons and Petra Areball of Westminster, Colo.

Skahill
joins Bulldog softball
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Shalyn Skahill of Diamond Bar, Calif., and
Riverside Community College to a softball letter of intent for the
2005-2006 school year.

Shalyn
Skahill is joined for her letter of intent signing by her mother,
Kari Nelson, and McPherson College head softball coach, Mike McCormick.
The 5'4” Skahill earned
Golden West All-Tournament honors her sophomore season at Riverside
CC for coach Michelle Dadona-Moya. She finished her sophomore season
batting .318 while playing center and right field after hitting
.290 her freshman year while batting lead-off and playing shortstop
with two broken fingers.
A four-year letter winner
in softball for coach Bob Devournett at Upland (Calif.) High School,
Skahill was named “most improved” as a freshman, second team honorable
mention all-league as a junior, and team captain and “most inspirational”
as a senior.
Skahill was selected MVP
for the Upland HS water polo team twice in addition to being named
team captain in both volleyball and water polo two years.
“Shalyn is a utility player
that plays all positions,” said Mike McCormick, McPherson College
head softball coach. “She led her team in runs batted in as well
as on defense where she posted a .865 fielding percentage.”
“Shalyn can hit with power
as well as place the hit in the short game. I expect her to make
a big impact on our program.”
“Coach Daddona at Riverside
CC said she was their most versatile player, and one who gave everything
including continuing to play with a broken finger.”
“This was big with me in
my pursuit of Shalyn. I'm really looking forward to having her with
us next year.”

Kari Nelson of Diamond Bar, Calif., and Steven Skahill of Upland,
Calif.

Koch
inks with Bulldog softball
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Carrie Koch of Arvada, Colo., to a softball
letter of intent for the 2005-2006 school year.
The 5'4” Koch earned all-state
honors in both softball and track at D'Evelyn High School in Denver,
where she graduated in 2004 and lettered in both sports for four
years.
Koch
was named second team all-state in softball her sophomore year plus
received honorable mention all-state recognition as a freshman and
senior. She was named first team all-conference as a sophomore,
sandwiched by second team all-conference honors her freshman and
senior seasons.
In track & field, Koch
was a three-year all-state, all-conference performer.
Koch spent the 2004-2005
school year at Red Rocks Community College in Lakewood, Colo., but
did not participate in any athletics.
“Carrie comes to us as an
outstanding infielder,” said Mike McCormick, McPherson College head
softball coach. “She plays for one of the top Colorado teams during
the summer.”
“Carrie can play either
infield or outfield, and has good speed. She will help us on defense
as well as at the plate.”
“I am very pleased Carrie
has picked McPherson College to continue her education and athletic
career.”
Carrie is the daughter of
James and Mary Koch of Arvada , Colo. She plans to major in physical
education and health with a career goal of teaching.
Carrie's sister Katie played
softball four years at Colorado State University , where she was
academic All-Mountain West Conference and served on CSU's student
athletic advisory committee.

Viehman
inks with Mac softball
McPherson College has
announced the recent signing of Erikka Viehman of Gunnison, Colo.,
to a softball letter of intent for the 2005-2006 school year.

A 2005 graduate of Gunnison High School,
Viehman received Colorado All-State recognition as a senior as well
as all-conference honors as a junior and senior.
Erikka's .426 batting
average led Gunnison HS this past season. Shge also had a slugging
percentage of .593 and on-base percentage of .597.
As a partime pitcher, Errika
posted a 2-0 win-lost record with a 3.23 ERA.
“Rikki comes to McPherson
College as one of Colorado 's best players,” said Mike McCormick,
McPherson College softball coach. “She has outstanding range at
third base and also can pitch, if needed.”
“Rikki will make a great
addition to our softball team as a player and as a student. She
has had an outstanding career at Gunnison High School where she
ranked 17 th in her class.”
“I am very glad Rikki has
chosen McPherson to continue she education and softball career.”
Erikka is the daughter
of Richard and Cindy Viehman of Gunnison, Colo. Her brother Robert
currently plays baseball at Hastings College in Nebraska.

Steinmetz inks with
McPherson softball
McPherson College has
announced the recent signing of Casey Raye Steinmetz of Wamego,
Kan., to a softball letter of intent for the 2005-2006 school year.

Casey
Steinmetz makes it official with the signing of her McPherson College

Wamego HS head softball coach, along with Casey's parents, Ron and
Judy Steinmetz.
Steinmetz will graduate this
spring from Wamego High School , where she has played for coach
Emily Barnes. Casey has played ASA summer club softball the past
two years with the Marysville Magic, along with current Lady Bulldogs
Mandy and Mallory Yungeberg, and this summer will be playing with
The Extreme Team, out of Manhattan .
“Casey is a very versatile
player, ” said Mike McCormick, McPherson College head softball coach.
“She is a fine infielder and outfielder. She has good skills and
is a fine hitter.”
“We believe she can compete
for playing time at both second base and in the outfield.”
“Casey brings a solid academic
background to McPherson College . I am very pleased to have Casey
as a member of the Lady Bulldogs and believe she will be a great
addition to our campus.”
Casey is the daughter of Ron and Judy
Steinmetz of Wamego, Kan.

Ziegler signs with Lady
Bulldogs
McPherson College has
announced the recent signing of Amy Ziegler of Westminster, Colo.,
to a softball letter of intent for the 2005-2006 school year.
Joining
Amy Ziegler in her McPherson College letter of intent signing are

with (back, left) Carrie Ott, Standley Lake HS head coach, and Mike
McCormick, McPherson College head coach.
Ziegler will graduate from
Standley Lake High School in Westminster this spring where she has
been captain of the softball team two seasons.
“Amy is a very skilled softball player
,” said Mike McCormick, McPherson College head softball coach. “She
was primarily a pitcher for Standley Lake , but we've recruited
her to play outfield and first base as well as pitch.”
“She has a good fast ball
and change up as well as a great arm from the outfield. She also
will bring a great glove at first base. She has the skills to see
playing time at all three positions.”
“Amy has played for a good
high school team at Standley Lake as well as summer ball. I first
saw her at a Steamboat Springs softball camp and she impressed me
right away.”
“Amy is the kind of young
person we want at McPherson College ; solid in the classroom as
well as an outstanding individual both on and off the field. She
will be a great asset to our team as well as our campus the next
four years.”
“Amy will be wearing number
18 next year and says she cannot wait to get her here.”

Lady Bulldog softball
signs Silver Lake's Yates
McPherson College has
announced the recent signing of Jessica Yates of Silver Lake, Kan.,
to a softball letter of intent for the 2005-2006 school year.
Yates will graduate in May
of 2005 from Silver Lake High School where she has was named to
the All-Mid-East League softball team as a pitcher in 2003 and 2004.
After being named All-Class 3A in both 2003 and 2004, Yates was
an All-Class All-State selection as a pitcher in 2004.

Yates has been a member
of four state championship teams at Silver Lake High School , twice
in volleyball (2003 and 2004) plus once each in softball (2004)
and basketball (2002). In addition, the Lady Eagles placed third
in the 2003 state softball tournament.
Jessica recorded a 14-2
win-loss record as a pitcher for Silver Lake High with a 1.26 ERA
as a junior after posting an 11-3 record with a 0.90 ERA as a sophomore.
On her way to her All-State recognition as a junior, she threw a
perfect game against Humboldt in the first round of the 2004 KSHSAA
Class 3A state softball tournament. As both a sophomore and junior,
she has hit for over .330.
Further evidence of her all-around
athletic ability is shown by the fact Yates was also part of the
Lady Eagles' regional champion 4x100 relay in 2003.
“We are pleased that Jessica
has decided to join our program,” said Mike McCormick, McPherson
College head softball coach. “She will give us another quality pitcher
as well as a solid bat plus she can help us as an outfielder.”
“Jessica knows how to
win. She's been part of one of the most successful all-around athletic
programs in the state at Silver Lake .”
“An outstanding student and
one of top five high school pitchers in the state, we're looking
forward to having Jessica with us next fall.”
The daughter of Lee and
Suzie Yates of Silver Lake, Kan. , Jessica is a member of the National
Honor Society and SLHS Student Council vice-president. She plans
to major in biology at McPherson College .
Jessica's older sister
Amanda currently is a member of the Emporia State University basketball
team and scored five points in the Lady Hornets win late November
win over McPherson. Jessica's aunts, Amy and Wendy Redmon, also
played basketball for Emporia State .
