Signings
The following is a list of signings for the 06-07 season
starting with the most recent signing.
Sorensen
signs with Mac softball
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Katie Sorensen of Gunnison, Colo., to a softball
letter of intent for the 2006-2007 school year.
A 2005 graduate Gunnison
High School, Sorensen was a 3-year letter winner in softball for
coach Leslie diLorenzo.
As a junior at Gunnison HS,
Sorensen ranked 15 th in the state of Colorado in batting average,
hitting .514. She also led her high school team in stolen bases
and was named “Most Improved”. Following her junior season, she
helped lead a Gunnison club team to the Colorado state junior Olympic
title.
This past year, Katie attended
Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Okla., where she played
the middle infield for coach Pam Fink.
“Sorensen made the quick
transition from junior varsity to varsity in her freshman season,”
said Fink.
“I excited about Katie joining
our team this fall,” said McPherson head coach Mike McCormick, “
She was an outstanding infielder in high
school and would bring more speed to our team. She should challenge
for playing time at the short stop position as well as in the outfield.”
The daughter of Randy and
Kathy Sorensen of Gunnison, Colo., Katie plans to major in physical
education at McPherson College.
Sorensen will be joining
former Gunnison High School teammate Erikka Viehman at McPherson
College. Following the 2006 season, Viehman was named to the All-KCAC
first team as a third baseman.

Florian
signs with Mac
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Natasha Florian of Russell, Kan., to a softball
letter of intent for the 2006-2007 school year.
The 6'0” Florian lettered
in basketball three years, and twice in softball, volleyball, and
cheerleading at Russell High School.

“Natasha comes to McPherson
College out of a good high school program at Russell,” said McPherson
head coach Mike McCormick.
“She will challenge for
a spot at first base, but can also play the outfield and catch(er)
as well.”
“Natasha will be a good asset
to our program and our campus community.”
Natasha is the daughter of
Jeff and Paula of Russell, Kan. She plans to major in business management
at McPherson College where she will also be part of the cheer squad.

Heide
signs with Mac softball
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Leah Heide of Buhler, Kan., and Pratt Community
College to a softball letter of intent for the 2006-2007 school
year.

Leah Heide
is joined for her letter of intent signing by her mother, Judy Heide,
and McPherson College head softball coach Mike McCormick.
The 5'3” Heide graduated
from Buhler High School in 2004. She earned Chisholm Trail honorable
mention recognition as a third baseman her senior season under Patrick
DeLaney before spending the last two years at Pratt Community College,
playing for coach Ron Hill.
“Leah will be a big asset
for us next season,” said McPherson head coach Mike McCormick. “She
has a good bat and can play anywhere we need her.”
“Leah's coach at Pratt (Community
College) had high praise for her.”
“Leah had a good four years
at Buhler High, and we hope she will add some ‘pop' to our line
up in addition to provided maturity and leadership.”
Leah is the daughter of Judy
Heide of Buhler, Kan. She plans to major in biology at McPherson
College with a career goal in dental hygiene.

Monaghan
signs with Mac softball
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Jessica Monaghan of Haviland, Kan., to a softball
letter of intent for the 2006-2007 school year.

Joining
Jessica Monaghan in her signing at Haviland High School were (front,

The 5'7” Monaghan was a four-year
letter winner in softball for coach Stephanie Shanline at Haviland
High School. She was the Dragon's team captain in basketball, where
she also lettered four years.
“Jess will come in and battle
for playing time as a catcher and outfielder,” said McPherson head
coach Mike McCormick. “She has a good arm, is a hard worker, and
I believe, will develop into a solid player for us.”
Jessica is the daughter of
Glenn and Ronda Monagan of Haviland, Kan. She plans to major in
elementary education at McPherson College.

Coleman
signs with Mac softball
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Whitney Coleman of Douglass, Kan., to a softball
letter of intent for the 2006-2007 school year.
The 5'6” Coleman was a 2004
graduate of Douglass High School and has spent the past two seasons
at Pratt Community College.

A Douglass High School,
Coleman received All-Central Plains League honors all four years
of her prep career; at first baseman as a freshman, third base as
a sophomore and senior, and shortstop as a junior.
“Whitney is a power hitter
and will make our team better in that department,” said McPherson
head coach Mike McCormick. “She has a good arm and will add to our
infield depth.”
“Whitney played her high
school ball in a solid Douglass High School program.”
“We are looking forward to
having her as part of our program next year.”
Whitney is the daughter of
Twila and Butch Ketterman of Douglass, Kan., and plans to major
in physical education at McPherson College.

Ozbun
signs with Mac softball & basketball
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Kristen Ozbun of Rose Hill, Kan., to basketball
and softball letters of intent for the 2006-2007 school year.

Kristen
Ozbun is joining for her letter of intent signing by P(front,

The 5'5” Ozbun averaged
12.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.8 assists as a senior for Rose
Hill High School . Following her senior season she was named the
Ark Valley Chisholm Trail – Div 3 “Most Valuable Player” and to
the All-AVCTL-III first team.
In softball, Ozbun was named
to the All-Chisholm Trail Div. 1 first team as a sophomore, and
honorable mention All-AVCTL-III as a junior when she hit for a .308
average.
“We are really excited to
have Kristen as our first signee for the 2006-2007 recruiting class,”
added McPherson College head women's basketball coach, J.D. Gravina.
“Everything felt right with Kristen. She is a great athlete,
a great student, and a great person. I enjoyed moving through
the recruiting process with her and her family.
“Kristen is the lone senior
on her basketball team at Rose Hill, and she is the heart and soul
of a very successful, state-ranked squad. Coach Page has done
a great job with the team as well as helping Kristen develop as
a player.
“I am hopeful that Kristen
will step in and contribute even as early as her freshman year.”
“ Kristen is an outstanding
athlete ,” said McPherson head coach Mike McCormick. “ She can play
the outfield and short stop, and bats from both sides.
“Kristen will bring good
speed and good work habits to our team.
“She has played for a solid
high school program and some outstanding summer teams.
“We are very pleased to have
her join the Lady Bulldogs. I believe she will be an outstanding
player for us the next four years.
Kristen is the daughter of
Brad and Loretta Ozbun of Rose Hill, Kan. She plans to major in
education at McPherson College .

Bersuch
returning home; signs with Mac softball
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Courtney Bersuch of McPherson, Kan., to a
softball letter of intent for the 2006-2007 school year.

Courtney
Bersuch is joined for her letter of intent signing by her parents
Jazell and Dennis Bersuch.
Since her 2004 graduation
from McPherson High School, Bersuch has played the last two years
at Pratt Community College for coach Ron Hill.
“I anticipate Courtney
coming in and assuming our catching position next year,”
said McPherson head coach Mike McCormick, “ She
is an outstanding softball player as well as a 4.0 student. Courtney
will bring leadership to our team and be a solid player for us.
She has the ability to rally a team around her and. She is one of
the best catchers in the Jayhawk Conference.”
“I am looking forward to
having another girl from McPherson to be a member of our softball
team at McPherson College. Courtney played for the McPherson
Lady Express in the summers. Plus, Courtney is a McPherson College
legacy student; her grandfather and grandmother both attended McPherson
College.”
At McPherson High, the 5'3”
Bersuch was a four-year letter winner in softball and received first
team All-State Class 5A and second team All-Ark Valley League honors
following her senior season when she hit for an average of .448
for coach Christy Doile.
Following her final prep
season, Bersuch was selected by her softball teammates as McPherson
High's “Most Valuable Player”.
Courtney was also a two-time
All-Ark Valley League first team selection in volleyball, and named
MHS' “Most Inspirational Player” as a senior. At the conclusion
of her senior year, Bersuch was named McPherson High's “Miss Sportsmanship”.
As a freshman at Pratt CC,
Bersuch also participated in volleyball. She was selected to Phi
Theta Kappa, named to the Dean's Honor Roll and Honor Business Student.
Courtney is the daughter
of Jazell and Dennis Bersuch of McPherson, Kan. Courtney's grandfather,
Steve Bersuch ‘56, was a member of McPherson College's undefeated
1952 Kansas Conference championship football team.
She plans to major in business
administration with an emphasis in accounting at McPherson College.

King
signs with Mac softball
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Shaylin King of Wichita, Kan., and Goddard
High School to a softball letter of intent for the 2006-2007 school
year.
The 5'8” King helped lead
Goddard to the 2005 KSHSAA Class 6A state tournament.
“Shaylin will bring a good
work ethic to our team,” said McPherson head coach Mike McCormick,
“where she will be playing first base and third base and some outfield.
“She plays for a good Goddard
High School team that made it to state last spring.”
“Shaylin will be a great
addition to our softball teams as a player, and to our campus as
a President's Scholar.”
“We are looking forward to
having her as a McPherson College Lady Bulldog next year.”
Shaylin is the daughter of
Randy and Lynn King of Wichita, Kan.

Joining
