Signings
The following is a list of signings for the 08-09 season
starting with the most recent signing.
Gustafson
signs with Lady Bulldogs
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Kristen Gustafson of Overland Park, Kan.,
and Shawnee Mission South High School to a softball letter of intent
for the 2008-2009 school year.

Kristen
Gustafson is joined for her letter of intent signing by (front,

The 5'5” Gustafson has
played one year of softball for the Raiders under coach Shaun Henry
as well as two years of tennis for SM South.
This past fall, she was named
the Raiders' most valuable varsity player in tennis.
“I am pleased to have Kristen
joining our team next year,” said McPherson head coach Mike McCormick.
“She will be competing for an outfield position and has very good
skills. Kristen plays for one of the best high schools in
Kansas City area at Shawnee Mission South High School .”
“She will make a good addition
to our team and our campus.”
Kristen is the daughter of
Jody Gustafson and Jim Gustafson of Overland Park, Kan. She plans
to major in physical education.

Logan
signs with McPherson softball and cross country
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Kaitlyn “Katie” Logan of Clay Center, Kan.,
to softball and cross country nletters of intent for the 2008-2009
school year.

The 5'7” Logan received
All-North Central Kansas League recognition in cross country as
well as honorable mention recognition in softball in 2007 when she
hit for an average of .341 while compiling a 0.51 earned run average.
“Katie will make an immediate
impact on our softball team,” said McPherson head softball coach
Mike McCormick. “She comes from a good family as well as a good
softball background from her play with the Clay Center B's and Clay
Center High School programs. Katie has great skills as a pitcher
and shortstop.”
“A Presidential Scholar,
Katie will also make a positive impact on our campus community.”
An All-North Central Kansas
League performer in cross country, Logan helped the Tigers to a
fourth place finish at the state Class 4A cross country meet last
fall.
“We are very pleased to announce
the signing of Katie,” said McPherson cross country coach Dave Smith.
“She brings a very positive attitude as well as great experience
to our team.”
“She is a great student and
will be an asset to our school as well as the cross country and
softball programs.”
“We look forward to having
Katie join the McPherson Bulldog family next year.”
Katie is the daughter of
Richard and Laurie Logan of Clay Center, Kan. She plans to major
in biology.

Doffing
signs with Lady Bulldogs
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Katherine “Katie” Doffing of Conway Springs,
Kan., to softball and cheerleading letters of intent for the 2008-2009
school year.
The 5'5” Doffing was the
2006 state power lifting champion in the squat, then won four power
lifting titles in 2007, sweeping the squat, bench, total, and overall
titles.
Katie placed fourth in Class
3A tennis doubles as a senior, and has participated in track &
field for Conway Springs HS throughout high school.
“Katie will come in a battle
from playing time as a catcher and outfielder,” said McPherson head
coach Mike McCormick. “ She is very talented, with good skills after
playing for a strong summer program under coaches Keith Leddy and
Jim Chitwood.”
“We are very happy to have
Katie as a member of the Bulldog nation and as a student here at
McPherson College.”
“I am very excited that Katie
is joining our squad,” said Anita Parks, McPherson College cheer/dance
coach. “I believe she will be a great addition to the squad.”
Katie is the daughter of
Melissa and John Doffing of Conway Springs, Kan. She plans to major
in education or graphic design.

Martin
signs to join McPherson softball
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Kelsie Martin of McPherson, Kan., to a softball
letter of intent for the 2008-2009 school year.
The 5'10” Martin received
honorable mention All-Ark Valley Chisholm Trail honors at a junior
after being named the Lady Bullpups' Offensive Player of the Year.

“Kelsie is the third player
I've signed from the (McPherson) Lady Express,” said McPherson head
coach Mike McCormick, noting earlier Express alumni Darci Davison
and current Lady Bulldog Courtney Bersuch.
“Kelsie is good kid and very
coachable. She really listens. I am glad she chose to come here.”
Martin also participated
in three years of volleyball and one of basketball for McPherson
High.
Kelsie is the daughter of
C.D. and Diane Martin of McPherson, Kan. She plans to major in business
and finance.

Kinney
signs to join McPherson softball
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Hailey Kinney of Overland Park, Kan., and
blue Valley Northwest High School., to a softball letter of intent
for the 2008-2009 school year.

Joining
Hailey for her letter of intent signing were her parents Brian and
Tammy Kinney.
The 5'7” Kinney was named
the Kim White coached Huskies, “most valuable player”
“I am very excited about
to have Hailey become part of McPherson College and softball
program,” said McPherson head coach Mike McCormick. “ She
will provide our outfield with speed and good defense.”
“I like her attitude and
how hard she works to make herself better. She is strong in
the classroom and will be a great asset to our college community
and softball program.“
Hailey is the daughter of
Brian and Tammy Kinney of Overland Park, Kan. She plans to major
in elementary education.

Custer
commits to McPherson softball
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Kelly Custer of Elkhart, Kan., to a softball
letter of intent for the 2008-2009 school year.
The 5'7” Custer has received
All-Hi-Plains League recognition in softball, volleyball, and basketball.
She also has received honorable mention All-Area honors as a setter
in volleyball and pitcher in softball.

Joining
Kelly Custer for her letter of intent signing were (front, left)

College head coach Mike McCormick, Elkhart HS head coach Tara Schroer,
and Elkhart principal Rex Richardson.
As a junior, Custer hit
.382 with an on-base percentage of .706 and a field average of .915.
She stole 32 bases, and drove in 17 runs. On the mound, she posted
a 3.35 ERA while striking out 89 in 73 innings pitched.
“Kelley will coming to our
program as a pitcher from a good high school program at Elkhart,”
said McPherson head coach Mike McCormick. “ We expect Kelly to compete
for a starting pitcher position.”
“We believe Kelly can also
compete for a position in the outfield.”
“We are looking forward to
having Kelly as part of our campus community and a member our softball
team.
Kelly is the daughter of
Dori Custer of Elkhart, Kan. She plans to major in pre-physical
therapy.

Falk
signs to join McPherson softball
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Andrea Falk of Cheyenne, Wyo., to a softball
letter of intent for the 2008-2009 school year.

Joining
Andrea for her letter of intent signing were (front, left) her mother

Mark Falk, brother Lane, and McPherson College head coach Mike McCormick.
The 5'6” Falk, who will
graduate this spring from Cheyenne Central High School, has pitched
and played second base with the Cheyenne Extreme club program since
the Wyoming High School Activities Association does not sponsor
softball as an interscholastic sport.
Falk has earned ASA All-State
honors while playing for the Extreme under coach Dennis Sheridan.
This past summer, Falk was
credited with 161 strikeouts against only 26 walks, seven shut-outs,
and a 2.72 ERA. She led the Extreme is home runs and triples, and
pitched a perfect game in the quarterfinals of the Wyoming state
ASA tournament as the Extreme won Wyoming's under-18 crown for the
fourth straight summer.
Falk had also considered
Black Hills State University and Concordia University, where former
Extreme teammates are now playing.
“I like those schools, but
I like McPherson better,” said Falk, “and it's a chance to meet
more people. I figured I'm not going to play softball after college,
so I decided I wanted to spend my four years playing rather than
going to a bigger school and sitting on the bench the first two
years.”
Falk has lettered two years
in indoor and outdoor track for Central High School and was a 2007
qualifier for the Wyoming state meet in the shot put.
“Andrea
throws a pretty good ball,” said McPherson head coach Mike
McCormick. “ She has a good fastball
and has a lot of rise and junk ball stuff.”
“I believe she can come in
and be an impact player for us as a pitcher. She's got a strong
arm and good work habits. She can also play the infield and outfield.
Andrea is a Presidential Scholar so we know she also solid in the
classroom. I'm looking for good things out of her.”
Andrea is the daughter of
Mark and Debra Falk of Cheyenne, Wyo. She plans to major in chemistry/pre-pharmacy.
