It was a season of improvement for the Bulldog tennis program in 2008.

With players recruited for tennis playing the top two or three spots in the line-up, coach Dan Leddy was forced to fill the roster with athletes from other programs and students wanting to experience collegiate competition.  Still the Bulldogs struggled, having some matches where they were still unable to fill all positions.

The results was a long season as the women picked up just one win, that over Central Christian College, while both the men and women were winless in KCAC  play.

The lack of match play experience was telling beyond to top spots.  “You need to play a whole bunch of matches to get better,” Leddy told the The Spectator. 

Recruiting “tennis players” and playing tournaments during the summer will be key to the improvement of the program, and Leddy’s goal of restoring it again to the point of challenging for conference titles.
