The following is a list of all signings for the 2005 season
starting with the most recent signing.
Lusby commits to McPherson
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Joshua Lusby of Lawrenceburg,
Ind., to track & field and football letters of intent for the
2004-2005 academic year.
The 6'0”, 185-pound Lusby
is a 2004 graduate of East Central High School , St. Leon, Ind.
He was a three-year letter winner in track and twice lettered in
football for the Trojans, who went 11-3 in 2003, losing in overtime
in the semifinals of the Indiana state playoffs.
Lusby was an all-conference
selection in track as both a junior and senior at East Central High
School . In addition to running the 200, Lusby was part of the Trojans'
4x400 relay which twice broke the old East Central school record,
as well as the regional qualifying 4x100 relay.
“We are really looking forward
to having Josh as part of our track program,” said David Smith,
McPherson College head track & field coach. “On his visit, Josh
seemed to immediately fit right in. He will be a great addition
both in the classroom and in our program.”
“We are very happy to add
such a good football player this late in the recruiting process,”
said McPherson College football coach David Cunningham. “Josh is
a good defensive back with excellent speed.”
“Josh played for a quality
football program in Indiana . Indiana is similar to Kansas in that
although it is known for basketball, the high school football is
a lot better than people realize. We expect him to play some in
the secondary and on special teams. He will also get some valuable
collegiate experience by playing JV games.”
Josh is the son of Bob and
Teri Lusby of Lawrenceburg , Ind.

Kimble signs with
Mac
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Zach Kimble of Mulvane , Kan. , to basketball
and track & field letters of intent for the 2004-2005 academic
year.
The
6'5” Kimble played basketball for Mulvane High School under McPherson
native Ryan Herrs. This spring he anchored Mulvane's 4x800 meter
relay team to the 2004 Class 4A state championship and its 4x400
relay to the state runner-up spot.
The Mulvane 4 x 800 relay
posted the second fastest time among Kansas high school teams in
2004, combining to run 8:03.9 in winning the Chisholm Trail II championship.
“Zach is a very competitive
runner with both speed and strength,” said Dave Smith, McPherson
assistant track coach who is heading the Bulldogs' track & field
recruiting. “He has been part of Mulvane's 4 x 800 and 4 x 400 relays
at the state meet the past two years.”
“We look forward to having
Zach and the work ethic and winning attitude he'll bring as part
of our team for the next four years.”
Kimble was named honorable
mention Class 4A All-State as a senior and to the All-Chisholm Trail
League basketball team first team as a senior after being named
second team as a junior. As a senior he averaged 14 points, eight
rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. Twice he was named Mulvane High's
most valuable player.
“We are extremely pleased
to announce Zach's signing,” said Bulldog head basketball coach
Roger Trimmell. “At 6'5”, Zach brings a good inside-out game to
our program.”
“Zach participated in our
Central Kansas All-Star Game, and it was evident there that he is
a fierce competitor.”
“A special in Zach's signing
goes to his high school coach, Ryan Herrs. Being from McPherson
and having his brother Tim play here at McPherson College , Ryan
knows the community, in addition to our program and school.”
Zach was also named to the
All-CTL second team in football as both a junior and senior, and
honorable mention All-State as a junior. He recorded 1,000 receiving
yards during his junior and senior seasons.
Zach is the son of Bruce
and Eileen Kimble of Mulvane , Kan. He plans to major in accounting
at McPherson College.
Zach's sister Ashley was
an NJCAA cross country and track All-American at Butler County Community
College and has signed with Wichita State University for the 2004-05
school year.

Inman's Richert signs
for cross-country and track
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Chad Richert of Inman ,
Kan. , to a cross country and track & field letters of intent
for the 2004-2005 academic year.

Richert transferred to
Inman High School after attending Lincoln ( Kan. ) High School his
freshman and sophomore years.
“I really liked the people
I met when I visited campus,” Richert said. “The people were nice
and the whole environment was really friendly. Plus, the location.
It's just down the road. I just felt real comfortable there.”
Joining Chad Richert
in his letter of intent signing are his mother, Shannan Souder,
along with (back, left) David Smith, McPherson College assistant
coach, and Leighton Kaloupek, Inman High School head track coach.
Richert was part of Inman's
Class 2A state championship 4x400 meter relay team at the 2004 KSHSAA
state championships.
While Inman High School did not have
cross country, Richert comes with two years of cross-country background
as he participated in the sport at Lincoln High School.
“We are looking forward to
having Chad as part of our Bulldog cross-country and track program,”
said McPherson assistant coach David Smith. “ Chad comes with experience
from running a lot of different distances, everything from cross-country
(5,000 meters) to the 400 (meters).”
Chad is the son of Shannan
Souder of McPherson , Kan. He plans to major in psychology at McPherson
College.

Douglas signs with Bulldogs
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Ashlee Douglas of Toronto
, Kan. , and Eureka High School to letter of intent for volleyball
and track & field for the 2004-2005 academic year.

The 5'11” Douglas was a
first team All-Tri-Valley League selection in both volleyball and
basketball for the Tornadoes of Eureka High. During her senior season,
she was named to three volleyball all-tournament teams on her way
to setting school records for both kills (200) and dink kills (49),
blocks (53), and ace serves in a season.
As a junior, Douglas was
the only non-senior starter on Eureka 's 2002 undefeated Tri-Valley
League and sub-state volleyball champions.
“We are very excited about
Ashlee playing for us next year,” said McPherson College volleyball
coach Nathalea Stephenson. “She brings a lot of energy and willingness
to learn and improve. Ashlee will be playing at the middle spot
and we look for great things from her. She knows what it takes to
win and works very hard at improving her skills. It will be fun
to watch her develop her volleyball skills at McPherson College
.”
“Ashlee should be an outstanding
two-sport athlete,” added McPherson College head track & field
coach Bart Gray. “She is definitely one of those types of athletes
that you can build around for the future. As well as being a standout
athlete, Ashlee will be a good fit for the type of student we want
here at McPherson. She is very solid in the classroom! I am very
excited that she has chosen McPherson College to pursue her academic
and athletic goals.”
Ashlee is the daughter of
David and Kim Douglas of Toronto , Kan.
