Honors
Pangburn
named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete
Amanda Pangburn, junior from
Albertville, Ala., and a 2006 graduate of Geraldine High School,
was recently named NAIA/Daktronics track and field Scholar-Athlete
for the 2009 season.
This
was Pangburn first season competing in track and field for the Bulldogs
after being part of the volleyball team the past three seasons.
“We are very proud of Amanda,”
said Joe Eby, McPherson head coach. "This is a great honor
to receive and it is nice to see her hard work in the classroom
pay off.”
Pangburn competed in the
javelin throw for the Lady Bulldogs this past spring.
Pangburn is an agriculture
science major and is scheduled to graduate in the spring of 2010.
Recipients of the Daktronics-NAIA
Scholar-Athlete award must have a minimum grade point average of
3.50 on a 4.00 scale, be a junior or above in academic standings,
and been in attendance at the nominating institution a minimum of
one full school year.

Bulldogs
earn All-KCAC track & field honors
Six members of the McPherson
College track and field team received 2008 All-KCAC first team honors
for their individual placing among the top three finishers of the
KCAC track and field championships held May 1st and 2nd at McPherson
College .
Leading the way for the Bulldogs
were four KCAC individual champions: Brent Bailey
(SR, Limon, Colo.), Jordan King (SR, Limon, Colo.),
Antowine Lamb (JR, Topeka, Kan.), and Rachel
Leuthold (FR, Bern, Kan.).

Lamb came
away with the Bulldogs' only first team All-KCAC honors of the conference
meet's opening day when he won the high jump with a clearance of
6'7”. Finishing in a tie for second in the event and also earning
first team All-KCAC recognition was Seth Williams
(FR, Davenport, Neb.) with a season best jump of 6'3 ½”.
Leuthold
picked up the Bulldogs' first all-conference honors on Saturday,
setting a new KCAC meet record in the pole vault with her clearance
of 10'6” to earn first team recognition.
Andrea Swanson
(SO, Littleton, Colo.) followed shortly thereafter, receiving first
team All-KCAC honors in the women's shot put where she finished
third.

Bailey
brought home the Bulldogs' first All-KCAC first team award on the
track by coming from behind to win the men's 1,500 meters. This
was Bailey's third time to earn first team honors in the metric
mile, having previously earned first team honors with his third
place finishes as a freshman and junior.
In the next event on the
track, King earned first team All-KCAC honors
for the second time in his career by winning the men's 110-meter
high hurdles. The Limon senior had previously received first team
recognition after placing second in the same event in 2008.
Seven Bulldog men and one
Lady Bulldog combined to earn All-KCAC honorable mention recognition
in four events.
Earning individual honorable
mention All-KCAC honors for the Lady Bulldogs was Melisa
Grandison (SO, Quinter, Kan.) who placed sixth in the
women's javelin throw.
Receiving individual honorable
mention recognition for the Bulldog men was Shaun Griffin
(JR, Inman, Kan.) who finished fifth in the 10,000 meters.
This was Griffin 's third year to earn All-KCAC honors after receiving
all-conference honors at the 5,000-meter distance as a freshman
and sophomore.
Two men's relays also finished
in the top six to earn honorable mention recognition.
The men's 4x100 meters relay made
up of Mark Watson (JR, St. Charles, Mo.), Jordan
King , Antowine Lamb , and Leterius
Ray (JR, Wichita, Kan.) earned honorable mention recognition
with its sixth place finish. Ray and Lamb then combined with David
Parry (FR, Morganville, Kan.) and Kirk Pottorff
(FR, Limon, Colo.) to finish sixth in the men's 4x400-meter
relay for honorable mention honors.
