Lamb
named KCAC field “Athlete of the Week”
For the second time this
season, McPherson College 's Antowine Lamb was named the KCAC track
and field “Field Athlete of the Week”, for his performances during
the week of April 6-12.
Lamb
took home his third high jump win in four meets with a clearance
of 6'2” (1.88m) in winning the ACCK Championships held at Bethel
College in North Newton . He also ran on the Bulldogs' 4x100 meters
and 4x400 meters relays.
Lamb was earlier named KCAC
“Field Athlete of the Week” after clearing 6'9 ½” (2.07m)
at the McPherson Invitational on March 14. Lamb That clearance set
a new McPherson College school record as well as registered an automatic
qualifying mark for the NAIA National Outdoor Championships. He
then cleared the provisional standard of 6'8” in winning the Friends
Invitational on April 4.
Lamb is scheduled to compete
on Saturday, April 18, at the Kansas Relays in Lawrence , against
a field of NCAA, NAIA, and junior college jumpers from across the
upper Midwest .
The 2009 NAIA meet will be
held May 21-23 at the Ralph Korte Stadium on the campus of Southern
Illinois University at Edwardsville in Edwardsville , Ill.

Swanson,
Lamb named KCAC field “Athlete of the Week”
McPherson College's Andrea
Swanson and Antowine Lamb were named the KCAC track and field “Field
Athlete of the Week” for their performances during the week of March
9-15.
In
just his first collegiate meet, Lamb cleared 6'9 ½” (2.07m)
in the high jump to set a new McPherson College school record as
well as register an automatic qualifying mark for the NAIA National
Outdoor Championships.
The 2009 NAIA meet will be
held May 21-23 at the Ralph Korte Stadium on the campus of Southern
Illinois University at Edwardsville in Edwardsville, Ill.
Lamb's clearance was also
a new McPherson Invitational meet record, bettering the previous
mark of 6'9” set in 2005 by Matt Rorabaugh of Tabor.
Lamb is a 2006 graduate of
Highland Park High School in Topeka, Kan., and is a junior transfer
from Barton County Community College. He is majoring in business
management and graphic arts.
Swanson
recorded an NAIA National Outdoor provisional qualifying mark of
41'8 ¾” (12.72m) in the shot put while finishing second at
the McPherson Invitational.
Swanson's throw was an outdoor
collegiate best for the sophomore who returned to throwing this
winter after two off-season shoulder surgeries.
On February 21, Swanson threw
a personal best of 42'4 ¾” while placing second at the Central
Missouri University Classic in Warrensburg, Mo., to qualify for
the NAIA Indoor Nationals.
An All-American goalkeeper
for the Lady Bulldog soccer team, Swanson is a 2007 graduate of
Heritage High School in Littleton, Colo. She is majoring in elementary
education.
“I am very excited for both
of them,” stated McPherson College head coach Joe Eby. “Hopefully
this is just the beginning of what these two will be able to accomplish
this season.”
