Signings
The following is a list of all signings for the 2010 season
starting with the most recent signing.
Baxter
signs with McPherson track/cross country
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Michael Baxter of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and
Cuyahoga Falls High School to a letter of intent for cross country
and track & field for the 2009-2010 school year.

“I am very excited to add
Baxter to the team,” said McPherson College head cross country and
track coach Joe Eby. “He is very talented and has run some fast
times in high school.”
The 5'6”, 128-pound Baxter,
was a varsity letter winner in cross country, and track and field
at Cuyahoga Falls High School. In his senior season, he earned All-Ohio
and All-Conference honor. Michael's personal bests are 15:37 in
the 5K, 9:44 two mile, 4:35 one mile and 2:05 800m.
Michael is the son of Sherry
Baxter of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. He plans to major in business while
at McPherson College

Washington
joins McPherson track and field
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Brandon Washington of Brenham, Texas, and
Barton County Community College to a letter of intent for track
& field for the 2009-2010 school year.
“Brandon is someone who will
make an impact on the national scene right away,” said McPherson
College head track and field coach Joe Eby. “He will bring some
great experience to the group and should be a leader to our younger
guys.”
Washington has spent the
last two seasons at Barton County Community College running under
head coach Matt Kane. Last season with the Cougars, Brandon ran
the 100m and 200m sprints for the Barton County national NJCAA runner
up team. Prior to Barton County, he was a letter winner in track
and field for coach Jerry Newman at Brenham High School, Brenham,
Texas.
Brandon plans to major
in physical education while at McPherson College

Delker
joins McPherson track/cross country
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Brittany Delker of Tucson, Ariz., and Pima
Community College to a letter of intent for cross country and track
& field for the 2009-2010 school year.

The 5'10” Delker competed
in track & field at Pima Community College.
Delker earned NJCAA coaches
all-american honors in the 400m hurdles and the 4x800m relay, an
event she won at the Region I championship. While at Pima Community
College, Brittany ran under the direction of coach Greg Wenneborg.
“I am extremely pleased to
add Brittany to the program,” said McPherson College head coach
Joe Eby. “She has a tremendous amount of potential in the long sprints,
middle distance and the 400m hurdles.”
“She will be an immediate
impact in the conference and possibly at the national level.”
“She will also be joining
the cross country team, bringing maturity and experience to our
young team.”
Brittany is the daughter
of James and Patricia Delker of Tucson, Ariz. She plans to major
in criminal justice while at McPherson College.

Woodward
signs with McPherson track
McPherson College has
announced the recent signing of Andrew Woodward of Topeka, Kan.,
and Topeka High School to a track and field letter of intent for
the 2009-2010 school year.

The 5'10”, 165-pound Woodward
lettered four seasons in track and field under Coach Russell Hodison,
and two seasons in swimming and diving.
The 2009 Centennial League
champion, Woodward's personal best high school vault was 13'6”.
“We
are very excited to have Andy on board,”
said McPherson College head coach Joseph Eby. “He is a hard worker,
a great person and will be a much needed addition to the vault squad.”
Andrew is the son of Richard
and Gayle Woodward. He plans to major in automotive restoration
technology.

Miller
signs with McPherson track
McPherson College has
announced the recent signing of Grant Miller of Saint John, Kan.,
to a track and field letter of intent for the 2009-2010 school year.

Joining
Grant Miller for his letter of intent signing were (front) his mother
Teresa Miller along with (back, left) his father Joel Miller and
McPherson College head coach Joseph Eby.
The 6'0” Miller was a
three-sport letter winner at Saint John High School, lettering in
football and cross country as well as track and field.
A 2007 graduate of Saint
John HS, Miller spent the past two years at Hutchinson Community
College.
“Grant is going to add
some good depth to our sprints group,” said McPherson College head
coach Joseph Eby. “He is a hard worker with a great enthusiasm for
the sport. I am excited to have him joining us.”
Grant is the son of Joel
and Teresa Miller of Saint John, Kan. He plans to major in business.

Sharp
signs to jump for McPherson track & field
McPherson College has
announced the recent signing of Garrett Sharp of Chanute, Kan.,
to a track and field letter of intent for the 2009-2010 school year.

Sharp, Chanute HS head coach Mike Martin, McPherson College head
coach Joe Eby, Chanute HS jumps coach Jeff Williams, and brother
Derek Sharp.
The 6'4”, 175-pound Sharp
placed fifth in the 2008 Class 4A state championships after entering
the state meet with a season best of 6'6”, tied for third on the
2008 4A yearly list.
A three-sport letter winner
for the Blue Comets of Chanute High, Sharp received All-Southeast
Kansas League honors as a senior before lettering in basketball
and track.
“Garrett is going to be
a great addition to the team,” said McPherson College head coach
Joseph Eby. “He has a great attitude and is someone who will work
hard every day. Coming in already having cleared 6'6” the
past two seasons, he will be a great addition to the team, both
from a talent as well as leadership standpoint. I can't wait
to get him on campus.”
Garrett is the son of
Gerald and Liz Sharp of Chanute. He plans to major in automotive
restoration management. Garrett will be joining his sister Carley
at McPherson College, where she recently completed her junior season
with the Lady Bulldog basketball program.

Jantzen
signs with McPherson track
McPherson College has
announced the recent signing of Jacob Jantzen of Moundridge, Kan.,
to a track and field letter of intent for the 2009-2010 school year.

Jacob
Jantzen was joined for his letter of intent signing by (front) his
parents Kirby and Julie Jantzen along with (back, left) McPherson
College head coach Joseph Eby and Moundridge HS coach Perry Koehn.
The 6'0” Jantzen has been
a three-year letter winner in track & field and football at
Moundridge High School.
As a sophomore, Jantzen
placed fifth at the Class 2A state meet in the 200 meters and sixth
at 100 meters for coach Perry Koehn.
His personal bests entering
his senior year were 11.0 at 100 meters and 23.3 for 200 meters.
On the gridiron, Jantzen
intercepted five passes and rushed for 600 yards as a senior.
“Jacob will be a great
addition to an already solid long sprints corp,” said McPherson
College head coach Joseph Eby. “His strong work ethic will be a
great addition. I am excited to see what he can do this spring and
start working with him right away in the fall.”
Jacob is the son of Kirby
and Julie Jantzen of Moundridge, Kan. He plans to major in automotive
restoration technology.

Carpenter
signs with McPherson track
McPherson College has
announced the recent signing of Paula Carpenter of Cheney, Kan.,
to a cross country/track and field letter of intent for the 2009-2010
school year.

Joining
Paul Carpenter for her letter of intent signing were (front) her
father Tom Carpenter along with (back, left) her sister Audrey Chance
and McPherson College head coach Joseph Eby.
The 5'10” Carpenter has
competed in cross country, track and field, and softball at Cheney
High School .
Paula was the Cardinals'
#4 runner at the Class 4A cross country regional in 2008 for coach
Rich Simmons.
“I am very excited to
have Paula joining us next year,” said McPherson College head coach
Joseph Eby. “I am excited to see what she can do at this level after
only a year of high school cross experience. I think she will
make big gains over the summer with her strong work ethic.”
Paula is the daughter
of Tom Carpenter of Cheney, Kan. She plans to major in elementary
education.

Fry
joins McPherson track/cross country
McPherson College has
announced the recent signing of Torey Fry of Wichita, Kan., and
East High School to a letter of intent for cross country and track
& field for the 2009-2010 school year.

Joining

father Roger Fry, and McPherson College head coach Joe Eby.
The 5'4” Fry has competed
four seasons in cross country and three years in track under coaches
Michael Draut and Darham Rogers.
“Torey is going to be
a great addition to our school and program,” said McPherson College
head coach Joseph Eby. “She is a hard worker with a great attitude
and I can not wait to have her on campus in the fall.”
Torey is the daughter
of Roger and Belita Fry of Wichita, Kan. She plans to major in environmental
science.

Smith
signs to join McPherson track/cross country
McPherson College has
announced the recent signing of Kyle Smith of Milford, Kan., and
Junction City High School to a letter of intent for cross country
and track & field for the 2009-2010 school year.

Joining
Kyle Smith for his letter of intent signing were his mother Colleen
Smith along with (back, left) his father Randy Smith and McPherson
College head coach Joseph Eby.
The 6'0”, 135-pound Smith
lettered three seasons in cross country under coaches Rebecca Steiger
and Bob Schmoekel.
“I was very excited to
sign Kyle,” said McPherson College head coach Joseph Eby. “He is
just the type of athlete I was looking to add to the program. He
will add some much needed depth to the team.”
“I feel Kyle is someone
that will make a major impact on the conference in his four years.”
Kyle is the son of Randy
and Colleen Smith of Milford , Kan. He plans to major in automotive
restoration technology.

Talbott
signs with McPherson track
McPherson College has
announced the recent signing of Drew Talbott of Mishawaka, Ind .,
and John Adams Heights High School of South Bend, Ind., to a track
and field letter of intent for the 2009-2010 school year.

Joining
Drew Talbott for his letter of intent signing were (front) his mother

coach Joseph Eby and Drew's father Mark Talbott.
The 6'2”, 150-pound Talbott
lettered in cross country and track and field under coaches Savino
Rivera and Bruce Urban.
Talbott was named the
Eagles' most improved in cross country, and competed in the pole
vault and ran the 400 and 800 meters for Adams ' 2008 sectional
champions and regional runners-up track and field team.
“We are very excited to
add someone who is excited about the sport of track and field as
Drew is,” said recently hired McPherson College head coach Joseph
Eby. “I think he will be a great addition to the team.”
Drew is the son of Nancy
Talbott Young and Mark and Sheryl Talbott. He plans to major in
automotive restoration technology.
