Mac spikers lose

FROM STAFF REPORTS

McPherson College's volleyball team, coming off Monday's emotional high of knocking off upper-division KCAC team Southwestern, suffered an emotional letdown Tuesday in losing a non-conference match to Haskell.

Mac won the first game 30-25, but Haskell came back for 30-23, 30-222, and 30-28 victories.

"Our intensity wasn't like the night before," Mac coach Nathalea Stephenson said.  "We didn't serve receive as well or communicate with each other quite as well.  We play well the first game and win, then the second game is our Achilles Heel...we can't just seem to put the second one away."

Terra Simoneau continued her quality play with 41 assists and was 13 of 14 serving.  Other leaders were Erica Alvarez (18 kills, 11 of 13 serving), Lisa Salazar (6 kills, 23 of 24 serving), Andrea Gonzales (5 kills), Audrey Garcia (17 of 17 serving) and Alyssa Rumple (3 pancakes).

mac is now 4-12 overall and takes a 2-6 KCAC record into Thursday's match at Bethel.
