week.”

Stephenson
grabs "KCAC Setter of the Week"
honors
September 27, 2004
Kendra
Stephenson, McPherson College sophomore setter from Salina , Kan.
, was named the KCAC (Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference) “Setter
of the Week” for her play in during the week of September 20-25.
This was the second time this season that Stephenson has garnered
the KCAC honor.
McPherson College won KCAC
matches over Bethany College (3-1) on Monday and Sterling College
(3-0) on Wednesday before taking fifth at the MidAmerica Nazarene
Invitational in Olathe on Friday and Saturday.
A 2003 graduate of Salina
Central High School , Stephenson was credited with 239 assists,
an average of 9.19 assists per game, 16 kills, 57 digs, 19 service

for number of assists in a match when she dished off 63 assists
against St. Xavier University of Illinois in the fifth place match
of the MANU tournament.
“The conference wins were
nice,” said McPherson College head coach Nathalea Stephenson, “and
the field at MidAmerica was very tough, including two Region IV
ranked teams (MidAmerica and Evangel). As her stats show, Kendra
was able to do a good job of getting the ball to our hitters where
they could do something with it. That in turn goes back to our other
ladies digging and passing the ball well.”

Crist
Named KCAC “Libero of the Week”
September
20, 2004
Kelsey Crist, McPherson College sophomore
libero from Bennington , Kan. , was named the KCAC (Kansas Collegiate
Athletic Conference) “Libero/Defensive Specialist of the Week” for
her play the week of September 13-18.
A 2003 graduate of Bennington
High School, Crist averaged 6.5 digs per game in the Lady Bulldogs'
eight games as McPherson fell at conference leading Ottawa, 3-1,
then came back to defeat Friends, 3-1. Crist was credited with a
total of 52 digs along with two kills and an ace serve for the two
matches.
“We just began using Kelsey
as the libero in the Newman Tournament ((Sept. 10-11),” said McPherson
College head coach Nathalea Stephenson, “but it is already paying
dividends. Kelsey does a very good job of passing and digging, so
we wanted her on the court more, in the back row. Allowing her to
concentrate on those areas has allowed our setters and hitters to
focus more on their strengths.”
