the Week
Stephenson,
Marquette - KCAC “Players of the Week”
McPherson's Jennifer Marquette
and Kendra Stephenson received KCAC volleyball “Player of the Week”
honors for their play during the week of November 7-13.
Stephenson,
junior from Salina , Kan. , was named volleyball's “Setter of the
Week” following the Lady Bulldogs wins over Ottawa (3-0) and #1
seed Bethel (3-1) before falling to Tabor (3-1) in the KCAC tournament
title tilt. Stephenson averaged 7.09 assists per game as she totaled
78 in the Lady Bulldogs 11 games played. She also contributed nine
kills, six ace serves, 10 digs, one solo and three assisted blocks.
This is the third time Stephenson has been selected for the KCAC
award this season.
Marquette,
junior from Waterville , Kan. , was named “Player of the Week” after
compiling 35 kills, an average of 3.18 per game, 10 solo and five
assisted blocks, one assist and a dig as the Lady Bulldogs placed
second in the KCAC tournament after finishing the regular season
tied for third in the conference race.
Both Marquette and Stephenson
were named to the All-KCAC first team at the conclusion of the conference
tournament.
McPherson's 2-1 record last
week raised the Lady Bulldogs' overall record to 19-13. Currently
ranked #8 in the NAIA Region IV, the Lady Bulldogs will travel to
Omaha , Neb. , on Thursday for the first round of the Region IV
tournament where they will meet #1 seed College of Saint Mary .

Crist
and Stephenson named volleyball “Players of the Week”
McPherson's Kendra Stephenson
and Kelsey Crist were recipients of KCAC Player of the Week honors
for their play during the week of October 23-29.
Kelsey
Crist, 5'6", junior from Bennington , Kan. , was named
volleyball's KCAC “Libero of the Week” following the Lady Bulldogs'
perfect, 3-0 week as they defeated Sterling (3-0), Ottawa (3-1),
and Bethany (3-0). Crist was credited with 42 digs, an average of
4.2 per game, two aces, and only four receiving errors in 71 attempts.
This is the second week Crist has garnered the “Libero of the Week”
honors in 2005.
“Kelsey has been working
staying on her feet in order to get to balls better, which in turn
will get the ball to our setter,” said McPherson head coach Nathalea
Stephenson, whose team now stands 15-12 and tied for third in the
KCAC race entering the final week of regular season play. “She has
done a really nice job of doing this, and because of her determination
to get this done, we were able to win some big matches this past
week. This is great honor for her and her team.”
Kendra
Stephenson, 5'9", junior from Salina , Kan. , was named
volleyball's “Co-Setter of the Week” along with Anne Gunden of Tabor.
Kendra averaged 10.3 assists per game as she totaled 103 in the
Lady Bulldogs wins over Sterling , Ottawa , and Bethany . She also
contributed 7 kills, two ace serves, 22 digs, and a solo block.
This is the second time Stephenson has been selected for the KCAC
award this season. McPherson's three wins last raised their overall
record to 15-12 and KCAC mark to 11-5.
“This past week, Kendra has
done a nice job of getting the ball to hour hitters,” said head
coach Nathalea Stephenson. “Kendra is one of those players that
will find a way to help teammates be successful. She is very dedicated
to our program and to helping our team finish strong in the conference.
This is a great honor for her and her team.”

Crist
named KCAC Libero/Defensive Specialist of the Week
McPherson College 's Kelsey
Crist was named named KCAC “Libero/Defensive Specialist of the Week”
for her play during the week of October 3 through October 9, 2005.
Kelsey
Crist (5'9", junior libero from Bennington , Kan.
) helped lead the Lady Bulldogs to a 2-0 week as McPherson College
posted a 3-2 win at Friends University, then concluded its week's
play with a 3-0 win over Southwestern College
Crist was credited with 35
digs , two ace serves, and a perfect 58 receptions for the week
as McPherson raised it's KCAC record to 7-2 and the Lady Bulldogs
into third place in the conference race.
“Kelsey has done a nice job
of passing the ball,” said McPherson head coach Nathalea Stephenson.
“She has been working on getting the ball to the setter with good
tempo passing, and reading where the hitters are going to hit the
ball.”
“In the game against Friends,
Kelsey really stepped up her play and helped us get the win.”
Crist was named to the All-KCAC
honorable mention squad following the 2004 season.

Stephenson
named KCAC Setter of the Week
McPherson College 's Kendra
Stephenson was named “KCAC Setter of the Week” after leading the
Lady Bulldog volleyball team to a sweep of three conference matches
between September 26 through October 1.
Stephenson
(5'9”, junior setter from Salina, Kan. ) led McPherson
to a perfect 3-0 week with home court wins over Sterling (3-0) and
Ottawa (3-1), and a road win at Bethany (3-0). For the week she
dished off 112 assists, an average of 11.2 per game, in addition
to picking up 14 digs along with 5 kills, 6 aces serves, and 3 assisted
blocks. The wins moved the Lady Bulldogs to 5-2 and into third place
in KCAC play. A graduate of Salina Central High School , Stephenson
was an honorable mention All-KCAC selection in 2004.
“Kendra sets the pace for
our offense,” said Nathalea Stephenson, McPherson College head coach.
“Kendra has been really working hard at getting the ball to our
hitters. She is one of those players that will put the team first,
being more concerned with team's success, because she knows if they
are (successful), she is part of that success.
“Those were must wins for
our team, and everyone made their contribution. This is a great
honor, not only for Kendra, but our team.”
