Nikki
MacKay, McPherson College senior, was named the KCAC and NAIA Region
IV volleyball “Libero of the Week” for her play during the week
of October 8-14, 2007.
MacKay was credited with
30 digs in the Lady Bulldogs 3-1 loss to Tabor on Monday, then came
back with 44 digs and one kill in McPherson's 3-0 win over KCAC
leader Bethany on Wednesday.
Those matches marked the
second and third this season MacKay has qualified for the AVCA (American
Volleyball Coaches Association) 30-dig club.
“Nikki has been working very
hard every day in practice to improve her skills and to help her
team,” said McPherson head coach Nathalea Stephenson. “She is a
one of those players that will spend extra time in the gym and put
her teammates' success ahead of her own.”
“This past week, all the
hard work paid off as she had 74 digs in two matches. This
is her senior year and Nikki has made it a goal to help this team
move up in the conference and if she honors come along, she is the
first to credit her teammates.”
Nikki is a 2004 graduate
of Raymore-Peculiar High School in Peculiar, Missouri.
MacKay was named to the
All-KCAC second team as a libero in 2006.
