| 2007 Signings
The following is a list of signings for the 2007 season
starting with the most recent signing.
Green
signs with McPherson volleyball
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Kelley Green of Brighton, Colo., to a volleyball
letter of intent for the 2007-2008 school year.
The 5'6” Green was a three-year
letter winner in volleyball and once in swimming for Brighton High
School .

Joining

Kelley has been a three-time
CHSSA Scholar and All-Academic selection under coach Laura Houdek.
As a sophomore, she was named Brighton 's most improved player.
“We are very pleased to have
Kelley playing for us next year,” said Nathalea Stephenson, McPherson
College volleyball coach. “Kelley is a very coachable young lady
that has a great work ethic. She is one that will put the ball where
the hitters need to have it and who works very hard to have her
teammates be successful.”
“Kelley has some of the softest
hands that I have seen. She is a very hard worker and we are excited
to have her as part of our program.”
“We have great expectations
for Kelley and we believe that, along with our other recruits, we
have a great freshman class coming in.”
“It is our good fortune to
have found her. She had signed originally with York College, but
with them dropping their volleyball program it gave us an opportunity
to recruit her.”
Kelley
is the daughter of Jim and Pat Green of Brighton, Colo.

Sievers
signs with McPherson volleyball
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Destri Sievers of St. John, Kan., to a volleyball
letter of intent for the 2007-2008 school year.

Joining
Destri Sievers for her letter of intent signing were (front) her
parents Racheal and Les Dyke, along with (back, left) McPherson
College head coach Nathalea Stephenson, St. John HS principal Mike
Burgan, St. John head volleyball coach Dean Rausch, and David Losey.
The 5'6” Sievers was a
three-time All-Central Prairie League selection. As a senior, she
was a first team All-CPL selection and was named to the Hutchinson
News All-Class 2A team and to the Golden Belt All-Area honorable
mention squad.
“We
are very excited to have Destri playing for us next year,”
said Nathalea Stephenson, McPherson College head volleyball coach.
“ She will help fill the setting position
that we have open due to graduation.”
“Destri comes from a very
strong volleyball program. St. John has a rich tradition in volleyball,
having been to state several years. Coach (Dean) Rausch prepares
his young ladies to play at the next level. It is obvious that their
program produces great players; Jessica Miller (1st team All-KCAC)
is from St. John.”
“Destri has been playing
volleyball a very long time and she understands the game. Being
a setter, it is important to communicate with your players and she
does a nice job of doing that. Destri is currently playing
on a club team in order to continue developing her skills and keeping
her competitive skills sharp.”
“Destri is a very hard working
young lady and will be a great addition to our program. We look
forward to great things from Destri in the next four years.”
Destri
is the daughter of Racheal and Les Dyke of Stafford, Kan.
She plans to major in accounting.

Guyer
signs with McPherson volleyball
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Stephanie Guyer of Highlands Ranch, Colo.,
to a volleyball letter of intent for the 2007-2008 school year.
The 5'6” Guyer is a 2005
graduate of Mullen High School in Denver, where she played for Terry
Cruz.

Stephanie has played at
Trinidad State Junior College in Trinidad, Colo., the past two seasons
for coach Tammy Schaibe
“Stephanie isn't new to the
McPherson College.,” said Nathalea Stephenson, McPherson College
volleyball coach. “We recruited her coming out of high school, knowing
she would be a very good player.”
“Stephanie attended Trinidad
Juco and played setter and DS (defensive specialist) this past year.
She will be a great addition to our team as she brings experience
and can play a couple of different positions.”
“At this point, we are looking
at her playing in the setting position as that is one area that
we need to fill. Stephanie does a great job of setting and her ability
to direct the team while they play is one of her strengths. She
isn't afraid to be vocal and she encourages her teammates.”
“Having her on campus this
(spring) semester will also be great for our team. Both Stephanie
and our team will be able to get timing down as they play and the
team bonding will be good. We are very excited to have Stephanie
on our roster and look for big things from her.”
Stephanie's
twin brother, Chris, plays baseball at Trinidad State. She
is the daughter of Stephen Guyer and Michele and Todd Bradbury.
Stephanie plans to major in education at McPherson College.

Gordon
signs with McPherson volleyball
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Danna Gordon of North Newton, Kan., to a volleyball
letter of intent for the 2007-2008 school year.
The 5'11” Gordon is transferring
from Emporia State University and will be attending McPherson College
the spring semester of the current academic year.

Danna was a member of two
Class 5A state tournament and three league championship ( Ark Valley
and AVCTL Division II) teams at Newton High School, the final two
under coach Keith Carr.
“We are happy and excited
to have Danna join our volleyball team,” said Nathalea Stephenson,
McPherson College volleyball coach. “She played for the Newton High
team that took 4th place in state in 2005.”
“Danna will be playing middle
for us and we are looking for great things from her.”
“Playing in a winning program,
and on a team that has had a great tradition, is an advantage. She
comes in knowing how to win and what it takes to win.”
“Danna took a year off, but
we know that she will be able to step in and do the things that
we ask of her. With her coming at semester it will give her time
to learn our system as well as get to know her teammates better.”
Danna
is the daughter of Dan and Marla Gordon of North Newton
, Kan. Danna plans to major in elementary education at McPherson
College.

Ratlief
signs with McPherson volleyball
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Abby Ratlief of McPherson, Kan., to a volleyball
letter of intent for the 2007-2008 school year.
The 5'8” Ratlief was named
to the All-Ark Valley Chisholm Trail Division II first team following
her senior season at McPherson High School under coach Christy Doll.

The Lady Bullpups 2006 MVP,
Ratlief was a three-year letter winner and two-year starter for
the Bullpups. As a senior, Abby had 60 kills, 595 assists, 32 ace
serves, and a .296 setting rate as she garnered honorable mention
All-Area honors.
“It
is great to have a setter that is close to home and to know that
she has been trained very well,” offered Nathalea Stephenson,
McPherson College volleyball coach. “One
area we need to develop next year is the setting position.”
“Abby has been involved with
a very good McPherson High School team under coaches (Christy) Doll
and (Cheryl) Malm, and she's played club ball with the McPherson
teams. She is very coachable and is very knowledge of the
game.”
“We have been watching Abby
since her sophomore year and as she has grown as a player each and
every year. This past summer in our summer league, we noticed her
leadership skills had really developed; adding that to her setting
skills we knew we definitely wanted her to play for us.”
“Abby is a hard working individual,
one that listens to her coach and will do the things we are going
to want her to do. There will be a little transition to the college
game, but I believe she will adapt very well.”
“We are very excited to have
her on our team next year and look forward to great things from
her.

is the daughter of Darrel Ratlief and Kathy Button. Abby
plans to major in business at McPherson College.

Arpin
signs with McPherson volleyball & softball
McPherson College has announced
the recent signing of Jessica Arpin of Salina, Kan., to volleyball
and softball letters of intent for the 2007-2008 school year.
The 5'11” Arpin was named
to the All-Saline County honorable mention volleyball squad following
her senior season at Salina Central High School by the Salina Journal.

Joining
Jessica Arpin for her letter of signing with McPherson College were
her parents (front) Ken and Judy Arpin along with (back) Mike McCormick,
McPherson College head softball coach, and Nathalea Stephenson,
McPherson College head volleyball coach.
Arpin finished the 2006 season
with 83 kills and a team high 67 stuff blocks.
“We
are very excited to have Jessica playing for us this next year,”
offered Nathalea Stephenson, McPherson College volleyball coach.
“She brings aggressiveness and court
awareness to our team in the middle position. Watching Jessica play
throughout her high school career, she continues to develop as a
player and I know that she will continue to do so.”
“Jessica has a very strong
work ethic and a determination to improve each time she steps on
the court. She is one of those players that a coach is glad to have
on their team. She hits the ball hard and is a smart player when
it comes to placing the ball. It is also nice to have a player that
is close to McPherson so that her family will be able to come and
watch her play.”
Arpin is currently penciled
in as a pitcher/first baseman for the Lady Bulldog softball program.
“Jess will come to McPherson
College as Presidential Scholar,” said McPherson College head softball
coach, Mike McCormick. “She will be a candidate for a spot in our
pitching rotation. She has good skills and will be an asset to our
program.”
“Jess also plays first
base and has a good bat. We are looking forward to having her as
a Lady Bulldog the next four years.”
Jessica is the daughter of
Ken and Judy Arpin of Salina, Kan. Jessica plans to major in elementary
education at McPherson College.
