2008 KCAC Honors

Loesch named to All-KCAC volleyball 1st team

McPherson College junior Kiley Loesch was named to the All-KCAC volleyball first team in a recent vote of conference coaches. This marks Loesch's second time on the all-conference elite first team squad.

Kiley completed the season leading the Lady Bulldogs with 373 kills and 57 service aces, was second in digs with 230, and was credited with eight solo and 12 assisted blocks along with six assists.

Her 373 kills and 57 kills in 81 games played both rank second on the all-time McPherson College single season list. Her per game averages of 4.60 kills and 0.70 aces were both new Lady Bulldog single season benchmarks.

At the close of the Bulldogs' post-season tournament play, Kiley ranked third among all NAIA players in kills per game (4.60), seventh in service aces per game (0.70), and 28 th in hitting percentage (0.343).

Loesch completed the KCAC regular season as the conference leader in service ace average (0.74 per game) and average kills per game (4.58), and was second in hitting percentage (.333).

“I am so happy for Kiley,” said McPherson head coach Susan Barton.  “She is a tremendous athlete and to be recognized for that, no matter what our conference record was, says a lot for the type of player she is.

“Kiley is a great example of the ‘student-athlete' as her academics come first. Kiley was overseas last spring doing an internship and was not here for the spring workouts with her team, yet worked out on her own.  For her to have the type of season she did speaks volumes about the kind of dedicated student-athlete she is.”

“I am very proud of Kiley.”

Kiley was named the KCAC “Player of the Week” the final week of the regular season when she was credited with 52 kills, 32 digs, 10 ace serves, plus two solo and one assisted block in 10 games played during the Bulldogs' 2-1 week. She totaled 16 kills against Bethel, had 17 kills and tied her season high with six service aces against Ottawa, then finished off the week with 19 kills as the Bulldogs knocked off third seeded Friends in the play-in round of the KCAC post-season tournament.

Loesch was a 2006 graduate of Lyons ( Kan. ) High School, and is a graphic design major
