Internship Profile: History

History major Luke Chennell completed a variety of writing projects during his academic career, including a paper that was awarded first place in Category II of the Awards for Scholarly Papers in History competition sponsored by the Kansas History Teachers Association (KHTA).

“Deus le Volt? Crusade Historiography” is a historical analysis of the 20th century historians who have studied the Crusades, a series of wars that took place between the 11th and 13th centuries as Western European Christians tried to recapture the Holy Land from the Muslims.

According to Dr. Gary Entz, assistant professor of history, Luke competed with students from all levels of higher education in Kansas ranging from community colleges to the large state universities. “He represents the best of everybody,” stressed Entz.
