The Math Department is committed to producing graduates who understand the fields of mathematics as academic disciplines and professions within the context of a larger society.

Students majoring in mathematics use sophisticated educational software such as Geometer's Sketch Pad and Fathom to help them learn and apply mathematical concepts. Not only do they learn how to do the mathematics, but also they learn why the mathematics is important and helpful.

While completing the senior research requirement, students have the opportunity to acquire skills beneficial to their specific area of interest and build a portfolio that will help them achieve their career goals.

High School students participate in Math Competition Day at McPherson College   3/2/09
The McPherson College campus bustled with activity and anticipation Wednesday, February 18th, during the third annual Math Competition Day. 400 visiting students arrived on campus, exuding their own school spirit and ready to start a day of problem solving.
