Students and employees at McPherson College see and talk with Tammy Nestor every day in the cafeteria as she plans great meals in the college’s Student Union. Now her employer, Creative Dining Services, has also taken notice of Nestor's abilities.

Nestor is manager for Creative Dining at McPherson College and the company recently honored her with the 2012 Superior Performance Award, given to only two managers – out of about 130 in the company – each year.

The award is for a manager who champions the corporate philosophy of Creative Dining, demonstrates superior leadership, promotes professional growth in themselves and their staff, and is willing to assist others.

At McPherson College, Nestor is in charge of the cafeteria in the Student Union, as well as providing on-site catering for a variety of campus events throughout the year.

Glenda Haley, operations director with Creative Dining, nominated Nestor for the award and said, “Her commitment to McPherson College staff and students have been great. Tammy always strives to improve herself and the program at McPherson College.”

A part of the company’s corporate philosophy is working in partnership with their clients - such as McPherson College - to help them achieve their goals. The company also emphasizes being part of the larger campus community.

Katie Hill, director of alumni and college relations with MC, frequently has occasion to work with Nestor as they plan alumni and other college events.

“She has big ideas and the ability to make them come to life,” Hill said. “Alumni are constantly floored by the professionalism of her staff, the delicious food, and the ambience and décor of Tammy’s events.”
