When the campus lawn of McPherson College is covered with classic vehicles for the 15th annual C.A.R.S. Club Car Show on May 3, some of the judges might seem a bit, well… short.
Not to worry - it’s just youth participating in the Hagerty Youth Judging program. The program from Hagerty Insurance will allow young people to see a special selection of classic cars up close, talk with the owners or managers of those cars, and judge their favorites for a special award given at the end of the day.
This is the fourth year in a row that Hagerty Youth Judging has been available at the car show. The event is free for youth to participate in, but reservations are recommended to make sure there are enough materials for everyone. It’s recommended for children ages 7 to 14. The event starts at noon and will begin by gathering in Templeton Hall on the McPherson College campus.
The student-run C.A.R.S. Club Car Show runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 3, and will also include tours of the restoration building, two demonstrations of a team of students assembling a fully functional Model T from a pile of parts in less than 15 minutes, and faculty demonstrations of restoration techniques.
The public is also invited to a cruise-in at the McPherson Water Park from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on May 2.
Registration for a vehicle is $20 the day of the event. The show is free and open to the public.
