McPherson College and the McPherson school district joined forces on
a $3.9 million athletics facilities renovation project on the Stadium and
Sport Center completed in the Fall of 2003.
The Sport Center houses two gyms, athletic department offices, training
facilities, conference and class rooms.
- 700 sq. ft. training room with direct outside access to stadium
- Football dressing room for 100 players with direct access to
stadium
- 2088 sq. ft. weight room with 35 stations, overlooking stadium
- Maple wood floors in both gyms (Robbins Sports Surfaces)
- Ceiling suspended, center-court volleyball net system in main
gym
- Sound system and lighting in main gym
- Eight additional offices for coaches
- Additional rest rooms accessible to both stadium and gym
- Concession area accessible to both stadium and gym
- Relocated and enlarged fitness center
- 50-seat physical education classroom

Sprinturf playing surface for football and soccer
(Able to handle 6” to 8” of rain per hour)
- Herringbone, under field drainage to lateral, sideline drains. Perimeter
drainage inside south curve of track.
- Eight inches, 6 million pounds (3,000 tons) of aggregate above drainage
(6” of ¾” aggregate topped with 2” of ¼”
aggregate)
- Sprinturf synthetic artificial turf playing surface
- 120,000 pounds (60 tons) of all-rubber infill (approx. 45,000 ground
tires)
- An additional 20,000 pounds to be after approximately two months of
play.
ATG track, high jump area, and pole vault, long and triple jump runways
- Dual (north & south) pit areas for pole vault, long and triple jumps
located beyond east straight-away
- Two-inch asphalt overlay on track
