It has been 30 years since McPherson College and a generous benefactor created a vision of students learning the art of automotive restoration technology in a liberal arts setting. That vision lives on today.
The mission of McPherson College is “to develop whole persons through scholarship, participation and service.” We are living this mission through our own blend of career oriented liberal arts. The McPherson College Auto Restoration program is a good example of this combination of a strong liberal arts foundation and a career oriented major.
The McPherson College automotive restoration program is based on the idea of authentic restoration. Extensive hands-on experience is blended with the theory of restoration technology. And, because the automotive restoration technology program is taught within the context of the liberal arts, students are challenged to further develop the skills of critical thinking and problem solving, as well as engage in courses in the humanities, social sciences, and physical sciences.
The content of the bachelor’s program provides significant connections between automotive restoration technology and other disciplines such as business, communications, history, and art.
Throughout their time of study, students have the opportunity to observe and learn first hand from exceptional instructors in a personal environment. McPherson College also provides many co-curricular opportunities for growth and development as a whole person.
Our automotive restoration technology program provides a solid foundation for future career success. Seminar classes promote personal development, professional business skills, and creation of a portfolio and résumé. McPherson College works closely with business owners and not-for-profit organizations to offer many outstanding internship opportunities.
