Poking fun at the pretentious upper class English society in the 1890s, Oscar Wilde penned his most famous play and one of the world’s greatest comedies. Two pairs of young lovers, an intimidating guardian, a set of secret identities, and some well-crafted arrangements to be played out all make for what promises to be a delightful evening of comedy.
This show is Lois Davidson’s senior project for her theatre major. Davidson is acting in the show as well as designing the period costumes and make-up. Davidson has participated in more than fifteen productions at McPherson College. Some of her theatre accomplishments include: Bella in “Lost in Yonkers” (2003),
Director of “Any Number Can Die" (2004), Una R. Yoder Outstanding Theatre Student of the Year Award (2003-04)
The cast includes Nick Griggs, a senior from Denver, CO as Algernon; Alex Tyler, a freshman from McPherson as Jack; Lois Davidson, a senior from Mont Ida, KS as Gwendolyn; and Colleen Porter, a junior from Quinter, KS as Cecily. Other cast members are Amanda Keith, junior, from McPherson, Bryan Grosbach, junior, from Kansas City MO; Becky Snell, senior, from McPherson; Joel Grosbach, freshman, from Enders, NB and Chad Richert, freshman, from McPherson.
Mary Hughes, McPherson, is directing the production and is assisted by Dr. Rick Tyler, Professor of Speech and Theatre as stage manager. Other crew members include; Dan Hudachek, Stillwater, MN; Lois Davidson, Mont Ida, KS; Alex Tyler, McPherson; Maribeth Turner, Oldsburg, KS; Amanda Keith, McPherson; and Jennifer King, Eskridge, KS. The First Nighters dinner is supervised by Anne Kirchner and Jennifer King.
